This year for National School Spirit Day we also asked teams to mobilize their entire school to participate! We had several teams accept the challenge and involve their student body and community! Read about the service project Costa Mesa High School from, Costa Mesa, California did for NSSD.
This year leading up to National School Spirit Day several campus groups pitched in volunteer hours to be camp counselors at the first ever CAMP MESA- This unique camp was offered to 4th -10th graders that were performing 2 years or more below grade level in reading. Their school recognized this need and felt strongly that the students who were performing below grade level would benefit highly from a summer reading program. With over 200 students participating in this free camp- the students at CMHS were able to help them increase their reading and writing skills through various activities as well as play some fun games and bond with other students. All groups on campus volunteered to make this experience memorable and successful. Teachers, administrators, coaches and students all volunteered their time for 4 weeks to help improve the Costa Mesa community.
The Team/Individual and School sweepstakes winners will be announced tomorrow! You still have time to enter – submit your hours at http://nationalschoolspiritday.org/submit-hours/
