Trying to get some new ideas for camps and clinics to host during our "off time". We extended our break this year, so our last competition is the last weekend of April, and tryouts are the first week of June, so we have a full month to fill with fun activities!

In the past we have done things like tumbling bootcamps, backhandspring clinics, stunt clinics, jump clinics, flyer classes, etc....

Anyone have any fun ideas to entice kids to come to the gym for their month off? Fun twists on camps and clinics listed above?

Open to any and all suggestions!

Everything is always better when you bring a friend! It helps spread the word about tryouts and a way to do some marketing for the gym!

What if you did some type of May Mania? A month long contest or goal? If they meet x amount of classes, or new skills, etc then they get a tshirt or bow that is exclusive to May Mania. You could go lots of directions with it.

You could also work in some conditioning with a parent vs kid class. Or they're on a team with their parent/kid.

Make each week a different theme?

Our gym doesn't do this, but the dance studio does---if you have a lot of classes that are different types; stretching, flexibility, tumbling, jumps, stunting...etc, etc, you could them as punch card classes. Meaning the kids pre-pay for x amount of classes and then can kinda go in and out as they want and don't feel tied down to any single class. The studio makes you buy all the punches you want up front.

Our gym offers a program that allows people to sort of try out the all star experience. For one fee you can come to any and all sessions for your level. They sort all the kids by tumbling level and run 2 hour classes very similar to the way they run summer practices. They run the same conditioning, tumbling warm up, jump work ect that they would do during a summer practice so that new people can get a feel for how the gym does things and returning athletes are still getting conditioned. They offer specialized clinics and classes as well.

We do a lot of the same clinics during our break between seasons. Granted its usually only two weeks. We found that our kids had a lot of fun when we incorporated jump sequences and motions from some of their favorite teams. Last year we taught a few different ones and let them perform them to that team's music and they loved it. We also have a class called Diva Dance where we teach the kids dance choreography from past and present music videos or performances! That one is always fun!!
