Seriously. I'm in an INTRO TO PR class and even I know you don't lie and that saying nothing is bad news.... They should have contacted the participating teams immediately after the financial broker left.

I just don't understand why they tried to cover it up. I would rather someone be honest with me than lie and then tell the truth a few days later..

Correct term is financial backer; basically the person that was funding the event.

I don't know about all of the participants, but they did contact us and gave us some options that may have allowed the event to continue. We didn't find the options to be very attractive for us, but it isn't fair to say that the teams were not contacted.

Got it. I saw the press release after I posted that.

I hope that the failure of this event causes other EP's and future EP's to consider how they market and organize their event. These exclusive events sort of popped up last minute.
