But the Spirit of Hope National Championship is truly unlike any other competition… and it all started with a girl named Hope.

In November of 2003, Hope Stout, who was battling cancer, was approached by Make-A-Wish Foundation to make her one wish come true; anything she wanted. What was Hope’s wish? To give 155 kids who were on the wait list with Make-A-Wish, their wishes granted. Hope, with the help of Make-A-Wish, raised over $1 million to grant the wishes of 155 sick kids as she was losing her battle with cancer.

After Hope lost her battle on January 4, 2003, her loving parents, Stuart and Shelby Stout, established the March Forth With Hope Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families battling cancer or other life-threatening diseases.

Universal Spirit has dedicated their Nationals towards helping support the March Forth With Hope Foundation.
