i thought i read somewhere that usasf said it was fine for them to compete.
This is what happened. WE called and they told them they hadn’t competed at a bid event so a release wasn’t needed. There was failings all the way around. But the malicious intent, and we all know it was malicious, is what bothers me.
 
Am I off base in thinking that an athlete should just be considered free to compete unless they owe you money or something? (Which they really shouldn’t owe anything because anything they agreed to pay is probably paid for by this point.)

I don’t understand the need for an actual release form signed.

It just opens the door to too much petty.

This is SUCH a bad look for USASF and I think they're the most at fault here. At its core, it shows they don't understand their own rules OR are willing to adjust them based on pressure from gym owners. Both are bad
