@TheVipersMom have confirmation that they are taking top 3 in that division, they said with the division being so large they thought it was only fair to move 3 teams on.
It's like we were on the same wavelength here. That's what I suggested in my first post!

Glad they thought about it! I am happy for the j3 division!

Thanks for clarifying!

Yes and all the y5's are listed as wildcards and not at larges again.

So you win Friday you can go home then right?

Bwahahahaha!

This whole WC business to me just reaks of a money grab. Outside of teams wanting the experience of The Summit, I can't understand why anyone would go on a WC bid.

We are going on a Wildcard because we want the experience of course. But also because we are in Iowa and the competitions that we were closer to offered very little opportunity for at large and paid bids. Our first one - they weren't even offering any bids for level 2. We went to the mall of America and got one of the highest scores of the day - but the best bid you could get there was a wildcard. There are some areas of the country that just don't have big enough competitions to support at large and paid bids. I am thrilled that our team gets to experience the Summit as well.

Yes we were - my daughter was there on Saturday with her J2 team - the Wildcats. They got 2nd place.
Our J3 team went on Sunday and didn't do so great.

My CP's team performed J3 too. Definitely not our best performance of the year but they are fortunate that there is enough difficulty built into the routine and dodged a bullet. Our J2 Large performed Saturday took 2nd S1 took 3rd and S4 performed Sunday took 2nd.

I didn't stay for Sunday's competition - but I heard that the J3 division had lots of teams with issues that day. Lots of stomach issues. So - did your daughter's team get first? If so - congratulations to them.

Is it bad for me to admit that since we have the expense of Summit - there was a part of me that was okay with my daughter's team getting 2nd at US Finals.

Yes thank you they did get 1st, but definitely wasn't their best, timing was off, had a stunt come down (not to floor) saved it and put it back up and the dance was all over the place.

Like I have said before if Cheerleading wants to be treated like a sport it needs to act like one. No sport would change its play offs after the season is over.

I do agree with you that the judging panel needs to get it right and video reviewing the top 5 with a second time or panel is a great idea.

Honestly, I'm not sure the cheerleaders, parents or powers at be really want cheerleading as a sport. I'm not saying this to strike up controversy but, if people really wanted cheerleading to be a sport, they would start heading it towards a more collegiate style, not necessarily with the actual cheer but, with skills, technique, cleanliness, and athletic appearance. They would be making a score sheet that is less subjective, not more. All Star, more and more IMO, is heading towards the dance category in terms of creativity, the make up, the hair, the bling, the glitter, the uniforms and less towards an objective score sheet. I am thoroughly entertained by both styles of cheer, however, I do believe AS is hitting the proverbial fork in the road and there is a behind the scenes tug of war as to which way it is going to go.

It is my understanding that Y5 all moves on and they compete Friday and Sunday. My guess is that its a scheduling thing.

I totally get this! I understand wanting the experience---what I don't get is why not model it more like World's, screw WC, and add more at-large and paids so that teams can still go without this one day; first place only fiasco.
