allstarmom#1 My e-mails were sent Saturday, Sunday, Monday and today. ntlgnt1 I agree that parents should get to see their children, I am all for them having 1st dibs on tickets being sold. However, if I pay the same to come to the event, and I have a ticket that I purchased then I have the same right to see the event that any parent does. Many "extra spectators" are coaches, choreographers, other cheerleaders that have spent an equal amount of time and money on cheerleading and IF they purchase a ticket, they deserve to see the competition just as much as the next guy.

Again, parents pay A LOT more money and time! Tuition!!!! No tuition, no cheerleader, lol! Then there's OUR TIME! Ok coaches are there most of the time, but please don't think coaches make every single practice especially when there is more then one coach for the team. Choreographers come in and spend a couple of PAID days to help w/the routine, but again, no tuition, NO CHEERLEADER.

Lets also add on years of tumbling! I don't know of any CP that gets to level 5 w/out the extra tumbling classes. So i'm not talking about 1 yr or one wknd of support, this is YEARS in the making!

The extra WORLDS bells & whistles (I mean ya know....new uniforms that was highly hyped on here, bows, sports bras)

The parents trip and tickets as well! And please don't think that just because a team got a full paid bid that it covered the entire trip, because it doesn't always cover the cost of the trip! MO MONEY MO MONEY MO MONEY!

ANYWHO....If the option is to pay more money as a parent, which we've already paid enough as I mentioned, I'd gladly pay more, just like I did at the Majors to see my child. But no general spectator has more rights then a parent, that again has been there ALL YEAR LONG...EVERY EVENT and not just the ones that were bid qualifiers or Worlds! We pay to make all of this happen....again no tuition no time, NO CHEERLEADER!!!

Alright.....I'm done :cookie:

For people who have suggested selling reserved-seating tickets, what would you do with athletes who would like to watch other divisions? Would they have to buy tickets? Would there be an athletes-only first-come-first-served section? I ask because there are a lot of athletes who don't make it through to finals - what would be their options for viewing semis and finals?

Maybe they should look into how it was done at the Majors! Of course if priority seating is made available there would only be a limited amount of tickets sold and would be offered to the competiting gyms 1st and it would be priority for one venue and general for the other; unless you are a parent that has more then one CP that is competing in both venues, which the gym would be able to verify. Then anyone that bought general admission would be at risk of dealing w/chaos, LMAO...j/k but kind of serious, lol.

The venue is too small--period and they need to either find a venue to accomodate every one who wants to watch Worlds or change the way that it is done at Disney if they cannot or do not want to leave Disney.

What has happened last year with overselling of tickets and herding people who paid full price into the baseball stadium to watch their child perform and now the disaster that occurred this year is not acceptable.

Totally concur with King that we should have our voices heard loud and clear that they need to figure out a way to fix this problem.

Thank you for providing the contact information.

Guess you missed the line where I said I think parents should get 1st dibs :sharkchase: I just want to say that I think EVERYONE should get to see the event.

I think what she is saying is what about the PARTICIPANTS themselves? Those were the ones told to leave.

I see. Perhaps by the stage there is a section of 300 seats (or so) reserved only for the participants in the Finals for that particular division. Once their division is over, they have to clear out to make room for the participants of the next division. If they want to stick around beyond that, then they need to have a ticket for a pre-assigned seat for that particular session. Not saying that's ideal, but at least they would get to see their competition.

SMCH....just put the competing teams in an arena by themselves to compete and ALL spectators watch it live stream, LMAO :chestbump:

Ok, don't attack me, but I heard from a reliable source that USASF is bound to Disney for one more year under contract THEN they are looking into OCCC. Don't hold me to it, but I think this makes sense. And for the record I said that should be the location a few years ago ;) So I'm taking the credit if its moved LOL.

That could work. And then, for the athletes who do not make finals (or athletes who make finals but want to watch other divisions), perhaps there could be viewing rooms set up where they can watch a feed for free (make it fun) or maybe free access to the live feed. If the athletes that don't make finals want to see it in person, they'd have to buy a ticket. ( <--- this option, obviously, kind of sucks, but I'm just brainstorming, here.)

I think part of the problem with the way it is done now is, as far as I understand, athletes who get eliminated early have the option of going to the venues and watching - that is more than a thousand athletes. There's no way, as it stands now, for USASF to get a handle on the number of spectators who will actually go to watch the events; even if they only sold 5000 tickets, there would have been overcrowding because there would have been athletes added to the mix. (Somebody smack me if I have the way it works wrong.)

You rock. I have signed. I hope the response equals the amount of conversations on the topic.
You and me both, I sort of expected it to blow up as soon as I posted it, but it hasn't. This is where we find out if people are willing to just talk something to death or if they're willing to take action. Talk is cheap.

Sorry.....old US History teacher speaking and I'll get on a rant about civic leadership and democracy before long.

True, but it can be done in L.A. we can have ice hockey and basketball on the same day just a few hours apart. Happens a lot. Lakers, Clippers and LA Kings share the Staples Center.

Anaheim and Vegas don't have pro basketball teams
Hey I'm all for Cali or Vegas!!!!! Lets switch it up, a little bit. If they can't hold the crowd size, aren't they aloud to get out of the contract??

I believe the problem this year with overcrowding was not really more people attending...it was the prelims being on Friday...with so many teams getting knocked out early on, the kids came to watch on Saturday and Sunday leaving little room for parents.

We were actually a bit bummed that most of our kids (yes, we were one one the evil at larges that shouldn't have been allowed to cross the fla state line) actually didn't watch. They did the Disney thing if they stayed at all. Some of them drove home on Saturday. A few watched and a few of their parents but on the whole they didn't. I actually wish they would have. What better way to truly understand what it takes to be a Sunday team, other than watching Sunday teams. That kind of education can only make you better.

I read we're in year 8 of 25 with the Disney contract, anyone know if this is true?
