A competition at the end of the 2011 season, a girl without any sort of asthma/ breathing problems had an "asthma attack" on the floor. Her mother was even one of coaches! After we competed, they brought her over to the medical station and got her hooked up to a breathing machine while we discussed the train wreck of a performance, due to the fact that half our pyramid and 2 stunts fell, because of this girl. and she didn't tumble either. once done talking it over we had time to walk around the amusement park, the girl hooked up to a breathing machine gets up and starts running around the amusement park like crazy! :banghead:

Its wasn't that bad other than the fact that there weren't enough seats for everyone and some adults were going to fight over a seat, which kinda put the competition behind......ok its rough!
haha, yeah, i hear it's a mess. I don't understand why any large gyms attend imo..

A few years ago, I was filling in on a Junior 4 team at Battle at the Capitol. I knew the one base that I was back spotting had an asthma problem which causes her to throw up when she can't breathe, but didn't think anything would happen. Well sure enough, during the middle of the pyramid, she threw up. This would of been okay, if I wouldn't of had to feel it drip down my leg. Yes, she threw up on me. I was completely grossed out and popped downy flyer and tried to run off stage since I didn't dance, but remembered I had to back another stunt, so I had to turn around. And STILL to this day, she has me we apologized.

i was just put in as a double teamer on our large senior 5 team and it was my first competition with them. in the middle of transitioning to the pyramid i completely forgot where i needed to go. needless to say the pyramid was a mess because i literally ran into the wrong stunt group. :( i felt horrible.

Last I heard we were not attending this year, so I think its safe to assume that there wont be any Large gyms in attendance at the 2013 Md State Competition.. :)
well that's good for you, at least you wont have to go through that again! :)

I already posted my worst cheer moments but I was just thinking about gymnastics and these came to mind:

My level 5 state competition where I was supposed to win bars by a large margin, and I ended up not even placing because I ripped my hand in my first kip and I ripped it even more on the kip to the top bar which caused the rest of the routine was not up to my usual standards. I ended up getting an 8.7 and I bawled like a baby. In the video, you can even see me look at my hand as soon as I salute the judges. But I got top five in vault so it cushioned the blow a little bit.

This probably doesn't count but at my level 6 state meet for gymnastics I had the flu but my mom thought I was faking. I pulled crazy low scores on everything, I think my all around ended up not even hitting a 3o and I didn't even care. And I kept telling everyone how sick I felt and how I wanted to scratch. And after the competition we were sitting there waiting for awards and I projectile vomited all over the room we were all in. I ran to the bathroom and puked everywhere. They had to shut down the bathroom. It was even more embarrassing because my little boyfriend at the time came to watch me. I didn't place on anything for the first time since I started competing. We also had to pull over every two minutes so I could throw up on the side of the road.

Well 2 years ago, I broke my back and had to have it braced for 3 months. My first comp I had to sit out, and watch it. That was rough..

We also had a girl and her family get into a car wreck on the way to the comp... Her grandma died, she wasn't going to come. We were all hysterical and had an hour to fix the entre routine....

Oh!! Ha so first season, when I was really awkward and had no idea what I was doing on he floor, me and this girl had a toe touch to bhs. We literally did it OVER each other ! No idea how that one happened!

Hmm I competed a lv 5 individual when I was reallyyy sick and I just biffed most of my hard passes cuz I had no idea where my body was in he air. ick!

And I also fell flat on my back during my first ever bhs attempt on comp day haha that one was interesting.. Round off, backdrop??

In the car wreck!?!!?

At one of my CPs competitions last year the music started in the wrong place. It was very obvious at the end when they kept dancing to no music!

Reading some more of these posts has sparked my memory of some unfortunate events. I apologize for the long post.

Each year the Varsity team hosts a competition for a fundraiser for nationals. This year, because I'm was the only one on the team that was good with technology stuff, I got the wonderful task of playing the music for other teams. I was super nervous about this because what if I messed up?! Embarrassing! So, my plan was to have the coaches play their own music so my only job would be to instruct them what to do. Before the competition started coaches had time to test their music, I tried to teach them how to use the music player but some clearly were not understanding and some just asked if I could play it for them so they could watch their team from the front of the mat. I decided that this was probably better because they would probably mess up their music on their own and everyone would still blame me. Everything is going good all day long and I'm starting to believe that I am like the cheer music playing God. All the teams music have been going perfectly and there has been catchy, upbeat music in between performances. So anyways, the team on the mat has just finished their cheer and I press play on the second music and they start getting into it. But, the coach (who is standing next to me) goes STOP thats the wrong track! I immediately stop it even though I'm completely confused about what happening because the team is doing their routine (this whole exchange takes about 10 seconds). So the team stops and gets back to their original positions. I hit next track and the music starts blaring and the coach goes "Thats the first music. If you hear 'Heaven' then its the first music" I'm just sitting there like duh lady, could have told you that. So I hit to go back track but as you probably know, when a track is already playing and you hit back it start the track over again. Before I can hit back again, she is yelling at me again. Finally, the right track (which was the original one that I had played) went on. This whole thing took maybe like 30 seconds? But that coach was not happy with me!!! The worst part is that the whole crowd just looks at you because you screwed up. Every time I say her at a competition after that I made sure to run away, just encase she would remember me. Didn't help that the announcer was at the end was like "Thanks to Hannah for doing a great job with the music!" Never again will I be the music girl, ughh.

In the car wreck!?!!?
Yeah it was sooo horrible :( she was the sweetest old lady and it was snowing, and a truck tboned the car... Almost everyone knew her and when the news got to us, well, it was a mess. Flight for life was called and everything....
