I love makeup so that's what I do. I do love nursing as well but the "powers that be" squashed my dreams and said I shouldn't be in the program because of having a "disability". Accommodations are not what they are in the US so after blowing so much on school I dropped out because they were making it so hard for me to pass/finish.

I need more book suggestions, something emotional but not like the popular young adult romances.

The Fierce Board App! || iPhone || Android
A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra! I'm not sure how old you are, but there's some violence that can be a little graphic and some sexual content. Just thought I would let you know, but it's a great book and I would highly recommend it!

Haha we have a lot in common! I went to nursing school, I worked for lancome, and I have a bad ankle from breaking it years ago and it never healing!

These are all so interesting! After I posted the question, I thought I was going to get 50 replies of "Owner of a cheer gym!" It's cool to see everyone's different ideas.

My sister is leaving her job in the next year or so - she's been working in her field for over 20 years. She's a partner, so she has some shares in the company. She wants to start her own business, and I'm trying to make a list of careers so she can maybe generate some ideas. :)

I read her these posts, and she's decided to become a "self-employed astronaut" :D

Just to be in the conversation... My dream career is buyer for a jewelry store. (hopefully requiring lots of travel)

Wow no kidding!! Did you ever have surgery on it? Am thinking of asking to see a specialist about it. I broke it a few years ago now and I did physio after they told me they made a mistake and it actually had been fractured and then there was scar tissue from it not healing. I did active release therapy physio and regular exercises and NOTHING helped. Now that I'm working at Lancôme my body is in so much pain. I have degenerative disc and nerve issues from it and that's pretty bad but my ankle feels horrible after every shift. I know my back will feel a bit better if I get more comfortable shoes but I don't think my ankle will :/

I didn't have surgery. It seemed healed and then I've had ongoing problems ever since (about 6 years). I had x-rays once a couple years ago and they said it was fine. I didn't pursue it because I felt dumb and like I was being over dramatic. But anytime I'm on my feet for a long time, or I wear heels, it huuuuuuurts - like the same way it hurt the day I did it.

Definitely go to the dr again - and I know lancome is a "cute shoe" job, but you gotta have comfy ones too. I was pregnant with cp when I worked there; I alternated between heels and comfy shoes throughout the day.

Ohhh I don't wear heels lol I wear flats and even that isn't doing the job since I am standing on cement floors I guess.

I may pursue it because I'm 25 and my joints already suck! Anything to prolong me needing a walker/wheelchair when I'm old and retired lol

@Just-a-Mom I'm doing my dream job. BUT, if I won the lottery and was set for life, I'd also want to become a professional philanthropist. I'm not even sure if that's a job, but I'd find a way to make it one if it wasn't.

Here's a really random question... If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

(assume for the sake of this question that you'd be able to obtain the education necessary and that you'd get hired. Also assume that yes, you do need a real job. Lol, so "couch potato" isn't a choice!)

I'm asking partly out of curiosity, and partly because we are having some life changes in my household, and need some ideas!
Neurosurgeon.

I'd be an English teacher in France. My other one is a nurse anesthetist in a pediatric hospital. I'm actually going to become a nurse anesthetist, but pediatric hospitals are pretty much in large cities and I want to live in a small town and commuting doesn't appeal to me in the least, growing up with a mother who travels an hour to work every day, with virtually no traffic
