This is quite possibly the most exquisite compulsory FX EVER. In the history of the world. LillyPod was just stunning, and took the care to complete each and every skill to 100% perfection. Every tiny detail was attended to. Absolutely every skill was fully completed before going on to the next skill. No rushing.
I also like how Tim has a "gymgasm" at the end of her first pass.

I had just had my 3rd child about 2 weeks prior (I was still young :)) and was sleep deprived...but stayed up every time gymnastics was shown -since they didn't show it till late in the evening. That was a great gymnastics Olympics year - from the Russians and the Romanians also. To watch it was something I won't forget.

I went to the trials that year. It was awesome. Back in Boston ....

I loved watching her. I also loved Sveltana Khorkina. She seemed sooo tall. lol at 5'4". Her legs were so long. I just wish someone would have helped her with her hairstyle! When she slicked it back - I cringed

Does anyone know how the team finals work at the olympics (I'm not 100% on the process) has it been finalised as to which events team USA gymnasts will be competing on? or will each gymnast perform on every event and the scores added up? I ask as I may be going to watch and want to know exactly which I want to see!

right. its similar in so many ways, you think they'd be the first to respect what we do.

I get mad when gymnasts say that cheerleading is for girls that couldnt be gymnasts, because our tumbling is less "polished". Compared to gymnastics, our sport is a baby. Definitely still in its beginning stages. Have you ever watched gymnastics from like, the 50s?? Same deal.

Love that video!! The bars looked so close together in the 50s! So cool to see how the sport has evolved.

Love that leo she's wearing in the video where she got hurt. So inspiring...I just can't get over it. That last vault was perfect. Crazy.

In the team FINAL this olympic year (it's changed over time), 3 gymnasts perform, and all 3 scores count (I believe they're either averaged or totaled, not sure which). I don't believe we will know who is competing where yet, although a few are pretty obvious (Gabby and Kyla are def on bars, Jordyn and Maroney are deff on vault, etc). For Qualifications, I believe 4 compete and 3 scores count. Qualifications are also how you get into event finals..

Prelims are 5 up 4 scores count. Finals are 3 up 3 count (each score counts toward the total score, no averaging) The only difference at this olympics is prelims because there are only 5 members per team, so everyone competes, unless you have specialists that don't compete on an event, then all 4 scores count.
