I believe the WOGA Twitter account said she's retiring.
I know Nastia plans on going to university, wonder if she'll be making an appearance on the college gymnastics circuit? Also read somewhere last night that Valeri wants her to stick it out for one more Worlds. I think she'd be smart to, she could easily take bars and beam by next year, but Idk if my body could handle that..

I thought she couldn't do college gymnastics because she went pro?

I'm not that familiar with college gymnastics, what's the rule on it? Just assumed since Sam Peszek can do it, so can Nastia.

That's ok and yeah I think it's 30 seconds so that's probably why

Yeah just wondering how much of a deduction it is. If I'm scoring the routine, I'd say she got at least .3-.5 for it. That routine wasn't too full of deductions aside from the 1.1 for the fall and the missed handstand.

If you've ever received money from sponsorships or to do anything related to your sport, you're not NCAA eligible. If cheerleading every became a sport you couldn't even work at cheer camps in the summer.

Oh okay, makes sense then why Sam can do it and Nastia can't.

Nastia posted this on her facebook page!

"Thank you so much to the amazing group of girls that not only cheered me on during Olympic Trials, but that also made these super cute Team Nastia bows!! I absolutely love it... Xo NL ♥"
It makes me so sad how we all love and respect gymnasts but they pretty much hate cheerleaders...

right. its similar in so many ways, you think they'd be the first to respect what we do.

I get mad when gymnasts say that cheerleading is for girls that couldnt be gymnasts, because our tumbling is less "polished". Compared to gymnastics, our sport is a baby. Definitely still in its beginning stages. Have you ever watched gymnastics from like, the 50s?? Same deal.

It doesn't help that allstar cheerleaders find the need to argue with gymnasts every 10 seconds, and from what I've noticed, it's started a lot by the cheerleading side. We think because we do routines for 2:30 and the longest routine a gymnast does is 1:30 that that's a valid argument. Allstar cheerleaders find it necessary to justify that cheerleading is the hardest at every chance they get. Gymnasts are not completely innocent, of course, but what I'm saying is that SO many allstar cheerleaders go out of their way to point out how difficult cheerleading is, how much of a sport it is, how much better it is than every other sport, and gymnasts don't do that, they let their hard work and performance speak for themselves, something cheerleaders really need to learn to do.

But its based off of past experience. Every single time I talk to a gymnast/past gymnast and they find out i'm a cheerleader they suddenly don't want to talk to me anymore because 'we make them look bad'
I use to do gymnastics before I started to do cheerleading and I had friends in both sports who were nothing but nice to each other... I don't know what kind of past experiences you had but i can assure you that not all us gymnasts are hating on cheerleaders..

Some of their moves are pretty graceful and they seem to have had more variety because not everyone was trying to pull the hardest dismount, etc. Makes you nostalgic... and makes me think back to cheerleading 8 or 9 years ago... so much has changed.
