All-Star Should Usasf Limit Bids/people?

Don't believe this for a minute unless you put a tent up in Death Valley in July! No one was interested in going to the parks this weekend. People are there to watch whether not they have some one performing or not.
I believe it. Alot of teams come for Worlds "because they got a bid" AND the Disney experience. Take Disney away, some of those teams go away because its not worth it. Not everyone is a cheer freak like us, even if you're an athlete whose in the sport.

I disagree. And I think USASF is shooting themselves in the foot because they will NOT realize that to grow the sport you have to grow SPECTATORS not just athletes/families. The days of families agreeing to pay more and more to support the sport are basically over; at least at a level to continue growth.

What Worlds HAS done over the last 9 years is begin to develop a core of spectators that love the sport and will likely support it for years to come, if the USASF doesn't screw it up.

What if we had a venue that would support 20,000 easily? In a place that didn't require hundreds of dollars to Disney? Where they could charge $50 a day instead of $25, but people wouldn't mind so much because most of them weren't spending a fortune outside of the tickets?

With the right growth plan and a focus on customer (read spectator not family) service, they might even be able to grow it to where competition fees could actually be reduced! Amazing!

I live in California. I can go to Disneyland any day I want. It is not the Disney experience that draws people to this event. This event is cheerleading's olympics - that is first and foremost why people go. I agree with an earlier post geographical change would be nice.

The weather is nice, ability to go to the parks is nice, Disney express is REALLY nice. If Worlds was held in east bumble, I'd be there.

What if it was held in a football stadium and everyone had assigned seats. When it was your team up, you would still be able to go to priority seating but you always have a seat and they know when they have to stop selling tickets. Then of course if we have enough people, the high demand of tickets would make the prices of tickets rise which would make more money for the USASF which is essentially what they want. No worries of over crowding, no worries of not seeing you kid perform. They could have a choice of two parent tickets with each athletes registration so the parents will get a seat. Then after that it is first come first serve at door.

To play devil's advocate... What about the kids with step-parents? Is there an option for additional priority seats? How many? What are the limits?

Disney-smizney. If they put this thing in a stadium where these kids could compete in front of 20K screaming fans.....it WOULD be run live on ESPN or ABC or something like that. And can you imagine THAT "experience" as an athlete?! Talk about feeling like a Rockstar. (no pun intended, didn't know how else to put that).

ok so maybe you have a limit per athlete....say five? Most wont use five but some who have brothers sisters step parents could still come watch.

My idea have worlds at some sort of stadium Dallas cowboys stadium for example. Have a standing section for family/friends so they can stand and cheer on their team while their performance. These people would get some sort of wrist band and it would be removed after going into that section(so people could only go in that section once, and only could be purchased through the gym when registaring to go)
As for seating- price tickets like someone would for a concert. Certain sections would be priced based on how good the section is.

Idk just a thought and kinda all over the place

Yea thats kinda like what I said. I like pricing the section based on how good the seats are though!

Reading the comments in this thread and the one about the activities at the All Star resorts makes me ever the more thankful that my cp has aged out of all star cheerleading and what I will never have to endure going to Worlds again. We went for four years and she won silver twice. The Milkhouse has always been over crowded and at least one time on a Saturday when we were in Josten's it was overcrowded and there were no seats to be found.

I don't think scheduling changes will really do the trick. As I read the suggestions about wristbands and special parent sections I just laughed. Do any of you who suggested this really think that once a parent got in and had a seat in this section that they would leave on their own out of the goodness of their hearts? It would take security guards forcing people to vacate that section at the end of a division. The venue is too small. In years past before they opened Josten's, they had teams competing at the Indiana Jones attraction. It was actually much nicer because it was open on the sides and there was a breeze. But you had to have a park pass to enter Hollywood Studios and that was very expensive for parents or spectators unless they bought the pass and it doesn't hold nearly the number of people that the Milkhouse does.

The event has outgrown the space period. The only place on Disney property that is truly large enough to hold everyone who comes to or wants to watch Worlds is the race track where they have the Richard Petty racing school and I think we would all agree that this would not be a suitable location.

I love taking vacations at Disney. I stopped counting after I hit 30 times. We used to go every year for a week at spring break, but then cheerleading got in the way and we were always either competing or in that 30 days till Worlds can't miss a practice window. I totally agree with the post that Worlds is first and foremost a competition and not a trip to WDW, so theme parks should not be your primary motivation for attending. On the other hand, if you had the event somewhere else, what would you do if you didn't make day 2 or day 3? Maybe if you had it a place like Atlanta at the GWCC there could be a Fan Zone at the Georgia Dome or the Philips Arena like they do at NCAA basketball tournaments and the Super Bowl. But I don't have faith that those in charge of Worlds could pull that off by themselves. Maybe if they could sell booth space at a Fan Zone it would get their attention.

One other thought is to split Worlds into two events. Have a U.S. only event one weekend and have the International competition - including the ICU event the next weekend. You can't have crossovers, so it shouldn't cause anyone to have to pay or make the trip twice. Instead of having 10 divisions competing during the same weekend, it would be broken into 6 divisions one weekend and 4 divisions the next.

To those of you who haven't aged out and will probably have to continue to endure all the drama associated with Worlds, you have my prayers and sympathies along with my promise that there is life after cheerleading. And just in case you were wondering, you can take a week long vacation in the Caribbean for less than you will probably spend going to Worlds. :)

Such as the Amway Center in Orlando. Parks would be still available if wanted.

Wow- I got to the Milkhouse at 6:45am on Sunday so I didn't get to see a lot of the outside crowding (I was fearful if I got up my seat would be auctioned to the highest bidder). I just saw the picture someone put up in the Meme's thread.. that is NOT okay. There were moments where I thought inside the Milkhouse "Hm, if something happens (i.e. a fire) I should probably just accept I'm not making it out of here". Now seeing the outside, I know that would've been true.

My heart broke today at the airport talking to a mom/daughter in line about how subpar the awards were for their division since they were outside on the baseball field. However, when she was escorted in to watch her daughter perform she said the feeling of the Milkhouse was incredible and she couldn't believe all these people were there to see something her daughter was a part of. I think that needs to be recognized- it's not just everyone's nana and papa coming anymore. This is a true sporting event and deserves the right venue.

If this is truly the case then what's the problem? Why's the milkhouse so flippin' full if everyone's there for the parks? Which is it? First everyone says they gave too many bids and all those teams that didn't make it through were the ones filling up all the seats... Now it's that we can't move it out of Disney because that's why people really go. If the people who don't make it through are going to watch finals on Sunday with Disney Parks 10 feet away, they'll go to watch on Sunday anywhere.

I think AL bids should be decreased, or the standard for receiving them should go up. That's all.

BWAAAAAAHAHAHA I for real need to get off here and go to bed. I opened right to this post, saw that it was to ACEDAD and the first thing I thought was "Really? That's what you came up with to hurt ACEDAD? That Alabama shouldn't get bids anymore?" Hahahaha... took my brain a second to join the rest of the world and realize it's AT LARGE. Yeah, I'm tired.

Don't worry ACEDAD, I'll never let them stop giving Alabama bids.
