I didn't go but I thought it was very odd that tiny and mini went on Sunday. Sucks a LOT for people who drive pretty far. I'd much rather have minis out of the way Saturday so if they don't need to compete the rest of the weekend they can leave Saturday and be back on "schedule" Sunday so that Monday they aren't exhausted at school. I saw that awards were again around 1030 for open divisions which I find ridiculous. Last year it ended at 11-1130 ish and I had to drive back to Ottawa...I wasn't a happy camper lemme tell ya lol

Lil Bits had a 2.5hr practice tonight and was fighting sheer exhaustion once school got out. Sunday was a horrible day for Mini's. We also had a last minute practice called for Saturday and we didn't get to Niagara Falls until later Saturday. I literally spent almost $250 for our basic hotel room for just over 17hrs in a hotel and never even got to use the amenities!!!! The only reason it cost more was because it was the Marriott directly across the street from the SCC.

I wonder what ever happened to cheer evolution looking for a new location for nationals. SBC is way too small for how big nationals has become. It's my least favourite competition

I don't mind the location. Niagara Falls isn't the prettiest town, and it's a long drive for us, but there are so many hotels within walking distance of the venue. Also, the SBC is a new, clean venue that generally seems to "get" what's required for an event of this size. I'd love to have Ottawa host Nationals, but there's not enough hotel space within close proximity to a suitable competition venue.

I love where Nationals is too, but we need a bigger venue.

Ottawa would never host nationals just because of the hotel issue. We used to have OCF regionals on the Ottawa side and it didn't last very long which is why it was moved to Gatineau and that is beyond poorly run. There is the new convention centre downtown but I don't think it's big enough a venue. EY centre would maybe work but again no hotels. Ottawa isn't really a good place for big competitions like nationals. I miss it being at the Hershey centre to be honest. Also for being a coach you'd also think that you'd get some good food but popcorn, pretzels, and some finger foods are not suitable to get me through the day lol

I believe next year there is supposed to be a new venue as the contract was to be up this year?

Oh the hershey centre

Anytime my grandparents talk about my starting cheer years they always mention how they liked the hershey centre.
Why ocf, why?

I have been to Ottawa Convention Centre and I think it has enough room for one competition floor and that's it. I don't remember anywhere they can put warm up mats. There are a lot of nice hotels in Downtown Ottawa but I think it would only have room to host 1/4 of the space. The only way I think Ottawa would be able to host Nationals is if it is in the summer and they use OttawaU's residences.

Ottawa is a beautiful place but I dont think it's a place where they can host a large amount of people.

TD Place could be a great venue, but AGAIN, no hotels. What's wrong with our city? :)

But seriously, OCF regionals is such a crap event and it's a mystery to me why Ontario regionals would be held in Quebec, with so many Quebec teams attending.

I just realized it wouldve been cool if we did a fierce board meet up for those who went to nationals... *sigh* theres always next year

OCF Nationals
We'll be there but only for 1 day. I'm excited too because Mini's are doing 2 runs on 1 day and Tiny's are on Saturday (Lil Bits is a crossover), and oldest CP's Prep team is Saturday too. I'm getting 4 performances and almost 10 min of cheer for my admission this weekend!!!!!! :cheering:
