I got a letter from @AllstarObsession at basic training!!!! She also says the weather in Texas is hot and humid. She's really busy with very little free time, and luckily doesn't get yelled at much from the training instructors, but she's doing well! Her letter definitely made my week. :cheering:
Hot and humid is an understatement, at least in Houston, it's terrible. Glad to hear she's doing well!

Anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area? I'm here for the next 5 weeks and looking for something to do! I'm about to head down to the wharf to get some souvenirs for my family.. My cousins are at work right now so I have nothing to do (boss told me she didn't need me today)

how do programs who win worlds and NCA get those things home? they would have no choice but to ship them back wouldnt they? just curious since someone brought that up.
They were carrying them through the airport when I was coming home from worlds this year. They took them through security - that's what made me think I might be able to carry these on.

I have had the pleasure (not) of bringing back a first place NCA trophy and 2 first place uca trophies... it is a daunting task but the airlines are pretty good about finding a place in the coat closet or an empty overhead. Just have a very small child carry it up to the plane and they will be like " awwee! we need to take extra care of this trophy!"
We did need to dis-assemble the NCA one,.. but it was pretty simple! Good luck!

First world problems :p

Bristol Palin got paid $262,000 to be an "Abstinence Ambassador" but now is pregnant again out of wedlock! [emoji15] Hmm, I wonder if she still has a job as Abstinence Ambassador?!

Same weather in Dallas. 21 years living here and the summers, I never get used to!
I've pretty much lived in Dallas every summer for the last 5 years (well at least a month or two each year) and I don't remember it being this humid. It's making my marathon training very difficult haha.

This is actually a "cool" summer for us! I haven't seen a day hit 100º yet!

The heat isn't really the problem for me since it hasn't really been super hot yet, it's more the humidity that's crazy. I think we've had 2 days over 100 here, but mostly in the 90s.

the humidity in Waco is even worse, in my opinion. always fun trekking across campus come august

Interesting. I haven't really been there for a long period of time so I can't compare, but I would have thought it would be worse closer to the gulf.

Can I take giant trophies on a plane? Like stupidly huge pageant size trophies?

I don't know why they are so big - they're for 2nd place and are like 4 feet tall. Why?

I have 2 of them and need to get them back to Chicago. Does anyone know how to take them on the plane?

I know I wondered that same question too, until a girl on my daughter's team volunteer to bring home the NCA trophy, I actually witnessed this trophy disassembled and placed in the airline staff closet, but I also witnessed, the huge UCA 1st place trophy being placed in the plane storage closet and one friend also, carried the 3rd-6 place trophies on the flight and placed it in the overhead storage too.
