Cool! Crazy how the Olympics have been around so long and are just now being hosted by South America. That makes me happy! I knew the U.S. had hosted both summer and winter, but I couldn't think of it ever being in the same city.

Yep, USA, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, and Italy have all hosted both and then Korea and Beijing/China will be added once their years come around again. According to the map I'm looking at of the Olympic Games, Africa has never hosted the Olympics either. I'm learning so much!

If Egypt was in a better place right now (financially, etc.), they'd be a great candidate for the Summer Olympics. Maybe one day. South Africa would be cool, too.

I would legit love to watch the opening ceremonies from India or a country in the Middle East. Also, I wish Nepal was in better place because I really think their Olympic village could be used after the games. I think it would be a great resource for Mount Everest expedition teams to use before and after their climbs.

I literally cannot deal. You know we love our Hawks. And EVERYONE here loves Kaner! He's just a baby. Like having a stereotypical frat boy as the face of our city. But it's usually funny stuff. This is not funny.

I just don't know... I'm still holding out hope that it is just not true, but really now that it's out he'll have that label forever. And yes, I've seen a few things that indicate that it's not good. Especially that they expect him to "turn himself in as early as tomorrow"

Ugh.

I'm telling you--hop on the TVR train. Kid has a permasmile on his face and the best hands I've ever seen. His hockey IQ is sooooooo high it's insane.


We also made eye contact once before one of his games (his school played mine) and it was glorious.

Now that we're talking about hockey, I'd like to say that I've yet to get over Eddie Lack being traded to Carolina.

Lol i'm still in a happy daze over Oshie being traded to the Caps.

I hate the Caps....but I live near DC and could, in theory, run in to his wife/my girlcrush while grocery shopping.

This is the first I've heard of this, but makes me wonder: Have any other cities ever hosted both the Summer and the Winter Olympics?

Beijing will be the first, and Sochi is applying to host the 2024 Summer games which would make them the second.

All for it. They're in the spotlight here and I think anything positive that can be done to prevent future occurrences of violence against women (or anyone) is a good thing.
