I think that Smoed's routine looks fine. It's just that, other teams can beat it unlike in the previous seasons wherein you question if someone can beat them or not

If smoed would have pyramid in the middle of the routine before say running, I think that would change up the routine. I think it's a fantastic thing you can watch a team and say "they are from this gym" but change is fun. Just like CEA Senior Elite changing to dance last instead of pyramid etc.

According to what some people are saying, they're already getting their "five peat"... Even though we've only seen snippets from probably less than 5 other teams. Lol

@Eyes On The Prize You always say what I'm thinking!! I know we are all just voicing our opinions on here but sometimes a lot of these comments come off rude and oblivious to what is truly going on. So the routine may seem generic to some however with the amount of new kids on Smoed it's brand new to them. It sometimes takes a program years to find what formula "works" for them. We've seen in the AwesomenessTV series that Eddie likes to be clean and consistent. As a coach you sometimes have to pull back based on the current physical and mental level of the team in order to build on it through the season. The routine we see now is simply a foundation to a production that will be built over the next few months! Regardless of our opinions of the routine, you can't deny they have talented athletes performing elite skills with some pretty awesome technique!

I'm frustrated watching some of these videos of teams at competitions marking skills or not even attempting a section on the scoresheet. It was fine at showcase. It's November. No one is expecting a perfect routine, but if you're competing, you should be going full out for the judges.

Yes! On some level, I'm not sure I understand doing this with showcases either.

If yours is an early one (late August or early September) then maybe.

But why are you marking stuff at a (example) November showcase when you are going to be COMPETING this routine like next week? Or marking at a comp?

If you're marking at a comp, you just made your parents pay and drive basically for a showcase.

That is what I don't understand either, but hey---I'm not footing that bill.

As for the routine, a lot of these are looking like the same thing in and out; I think SMOED is just held to a higher standard, though they shouldn't be since it's the name with the majority of athletes being brand new. Beyond SE and COED Elite; since I love both of their pyramids, I've yet to really be wowed just yet---but it's only November.

Bhahahahahah! Really? Lol. Good luck with that already assumed "five peat"

what happened to jumps? why are we marking them all the sudden??
i get that people will mark certain things due to injury or someone missing but in the situation where you are capable of doing your whole routine including all tumbling and you can't do a jump? thats what confuses me

I'm just guessing here but didn't they have some injuries recently? Maybe they just decided to go a little easy as its early in the season? I've seen teams omitting more than just jumps before.

Speaking from my CP's experience, the goal is to have your best performances when it matters most and marking anything at any point during the season could be done for a number of reasons. I'd much rather have a team mark something than risk injury, especially at a showcase or at a competition where the team is unopposed, whether it is in September or April. I'll gladly pay the admission fee and see half a routine than end up with a kid being sent to the emergency room. CP's showcase is late in the season and they marked and/or paused between sections. They stayed healthy and hit when it mattered, so this year if they want to forward roll all over the mat I'm good with it.

I'm with you. Showcases are for family and friends so I'm unopposed to marking jumps. I'd rather it be a SAFE confidence builder than a hot mess. That being said, I would not be happy with it happening at a competition unless there was a last minute injury or competition injury.

Smoed technically did not compete though they were only doing exibition and treating just like a showcase. They weren' even going to perform until the jamz comp. For the record, why is it only a problem when a cali team decides to mark part of a routine?
