I would imagine it would be pretty unusual for them to know. As far as I know, no one checks my kids eyeballs up close when we go for meet time. I think it's more of a "close enough to look uniform?" "Yep" "ok moving on" type situation.
This exactly. What's important is that the LOOK is uniform, and it sometimes takes different approaches on different faces to do that. I do a fair amount of dance and cheer makeup for different kids, and sometimes based on complexion, the size of their eye, eye shape ect I have to use more or less of a product or omit one altogether to get the look we are going for.

Shout out to the old folks who braved not only glitter but STAR STICKERS as part of makeup.

Yes, really.

Those star stickers died a pretty recent death. Droplet's team was wearing them as a mini at smaller Allstar comps. 2-3 years ago?

I saw them even last year. They're definitely taking a long time to die! But thankfully the glitter eye mostly died and glitter lip died 5-6 years ago because the glitter star + glitter eye + glitter lip was a tragedy

Because of this, I am totally double checking her next comp.... Up close and personal... Lol

Ugh. Now I'm having flashbacks to UCA 2006 and having to apply glitter all over the eye and up to the eyebrow.
(I still have the glitter. No idea why.)
CP ended up using the glitter and stars for various school art projects.

I just remember they were supposed to have a specific # of stars at the corner of each eye...CP always lost them during the day so we'd plaster on like a hot mess of stars and hope the "3" stuck. Oh and one time their coach had them all apply their own red lipstick (8 years old) We lovingly refer to CP as the hot mess clown in those pictures.

This is our make-up last season.
It's like a black gray smoky eye with a little sparkle, blush, and red lipstick!

It's the same this year but we ditched our logo sticker this season.

Every team has the same make up

Yes... but not the modern day star stickers. You know the glittery flexible kind. No, we had the real stickers that teachers would use for putting on papers. I'm sure these are the ones your talking about, but I think most others in this thread aren't! They were somewhat thick and hard. Not flexible and definitely not meant for the face. The ends were so pointy, when you squinted or smiled it would stab you a little bit. Gymtyme used them though, so of course in our middle school minds we would be just like Gymtyme if we did too!

I don't agree with this.
1. 11-12 year olds on a youth team would be in middle school and may wear makeup, my 6th grade CP wears light makeup to school.

2. STAGE makeup is very different than makeup on a daily basis. Kids involved in dance and theater wear it so that features and expressions can be clearly seen on stage. It serves the same purpose in cheer. CP has been wearing stage makeup since age 4. The moms who choose not to do it for the first dance recital because they are "too young" seldom make that choice a second time after they realize their child's features are indistinguishable from the audience and they lose the entire performance experience because they cannot see the expressions on their child's face, live or on the video.

I totally understand what you mean with stage makeup being different than everyday makeup. At Swedish competitions though the judges are sitting really close to the floor, so they can see the facial expressions no problem, so I'm guessing that's part of why they have decided on no makeup for the younger ones.

When I have competed abroad (Worlds, Jamfest Europe etc) we have increased the amount of makeup to still be visible from further away.

For the bolded part, if you're at a high production competition with lights a bit of makeup makes it easier to actually see kids on stage. Our first gym didn't require makeup for mini/tiny teams so I didn't put any on my CP. The pictures of her from that comp are horrible. She's a fuzzy white blob. It's not to make them prettier, it's so that you can actually see them.
For comps at high school gyms with no stage lights, natural does just fine.

Swedish competitons generally don't use stage lights, and the judges are also really close to the floor. I guess it's different here!

Sounds like it's very different. Judges here are generally at the very back of the crowd on a raised platform, and most comps use full stage lighting.

These totally reminded me of GymTyme!

Yep CP's were hard and sharp and not really stickers. We had to use glue
