One of our girls was wearing sports bra under her uniform (open back) she was the only one on the team wearing bra and the coaches didn't even care. She asked them nicely and they said yes. I am sure the team didn't lose points because of that one sports bra at any competitions. But the girl was confident in her uniform and I would rather see that one bra in the routine than watching her being stressed all day and fixing her top all routine.

I don't think we have to say bras need to be racerback only. I have a number of lululemon sports bars with crazy back straps and openings that are supportive when I'm running and I'm a DD. The last few uniforms I've had input in designing we incorporated a sports bra into the design, so their practice bra was also part of the uniform. And this year there are some busty girls that I know appreciate the thought.

I think there is a happy medium between fashion and function and that some uniforms swing too far one way or the other. It couldn't hurt to have a few rules regulating uniforms. Even figure skating has rules about what you can and cannot do.
ITA. I don't see why fashion and function can't peacefully coexist.

I knew this bra was a thing, because I own it. It's perfectly supportive and if it didn't fit perfectly under that Cheetahs uniform, it would come pretty dang close. The band is adjustable to widen the little opening thing, and obvi the straps are too. It'd be pretty easy to make work. So, can we PLZ STAHP criticizing everything. Thx
Unrelated, but that black and gold uniform is perfect in every way IMO

I have no problem with fancy uniforms. Just wear a bra. That one looks awesome.

I love flashy uniforms and innovative designs. Function and fashion are not polar opposites.

So I saw the Angels do a couple of full outs last night in the new uniform and here is what I witnessed. Several girls put tee shirts on over the uniform because they could not even raise their arms before they popped right out. One girl was overheard saying to a friend, "I cannot wear this." Several other girls were seen having to "adjust" themselves during the routine so as to keep the gym family friendly while they practiced. I did see one girl in a strapless bra. Overall, I think the front of the uniform is very pretty when the right girl is standing still. The back was not flattering. Again, I was just a spectator, my CP is not on the Angels. I also do not know what accommodations they may be making to have the uniform work for all team members. I do know they have already gone through one round of alterations.

Wheres the uproar in the back cutout, not the most bra friendly of uniform either. I think people just like to rag on top gun like wild fire, i mean we all know year after year they are going to push the boundaries, so why does everyone freak out year after year. Like you knew this was coming. Come on...
I also think that people are forgetting that most uniforms are made out of very tight flexible material, its not like they are wearing a loss fitting tshirt with no bra. I can see the problem with girls and large chests, but i want to say most programs run their uniform prototypes by the girls who are actually wearing them. I doubt any program design a uniform without saying a word to the team and force them to wear it.
There's probably a lack of outrage on this one because people are most likely sick of seeing it. *insert dead horse emoji*. The TG one brought more of an outrage since the back is all mesh, therefore if you had a bra, it would be seen (and if it's not nude it would probably ruin the look of the wings). This one might somehow (which idk how) be able to get a bra since it's all fabric that isn't see-through.

If I'd posted my comments on the uniform I would have said "idk how you wear a bra with that" but I let it go and didn't say anything since I'm sure many are over this argument again and again and just want to see new uniforms.

I'd be curious to know how many programs actually involve athletes in the design process, because I could 100% see a gym "design a uniform without saying a word to the team and force them to wear it"

ETA: I like seeing Cheetahs in black. I'm not a fan of the white shimmery dots up close (reminds me of snow or dandruff I guess) but I'm sure that will look amazing under the stage lights!

Nah, I 100% agree. If I were on a team that gave me a uniform that you couldn't wear a good bra with, I'd just wear it anyway and let it show. I would never compromise my health in any way to "look cute".
I just thought people were being unnecessarily negative about Cheetahs uniform (particulary people who were big fans of the Top Gun unis and thought people were just hating on TG)
Lots of people have proven you can be fancy and functional (you included, lol). Nobody gets to use that excuse anymore!

I'm not all about cheetah's but I know it will shine under all the lights and look great so I can deal.

I like the Tribe one! Could use a little white on the short, IMO but not bad at all! Looks comfortable.

That worries me, I don't want TG having a N-gate Pt. 2. Your story is interesting to read, considering that we had a coach and an athlete yesterday say things were fine with the uniform. Different fits for different people, I guess.

I had a uniform the last two years that required a sports bra like that and it really wasn't that easy to find one that worked with the cutout in the right place. I bought one I thought would work and it didnt. I ended up wearing a cami bralet thing over a real bra, which is fine for my IBTs, but it was a pain. Now, if the gym wanted to sell an optional sports bra that they could guarantee would work with the top, I'd have bought it.

And my uniform this year is open on the shoulder, so I wore the same cami bra (which has no support btw) and took the strap off my shoulder and hid it inside the uniform.

I just wish I didn't need to coordinate bras with my uniform. I just want to grab one of the half a dozen black sports bras in my drawer and wear that. I also like to be able to change in the hallway and take off my top and put on a t-shirt and I can't do that if I'm wearing a real bra or no bra - or a bra where I took the strap off an my boob might pop out as I change.
