i guess if it was something the school athletics program was paying for then, yes i can see the problem. But if was something put together and paid for by team members, coaches, would it still be labelled a school function??It stresses me out to see grown folks defending this behavior as "kids being kids."
Sidenote: This is often why hiring younger alumnae cheerleaders to a coaching role isn't always the best option. See also: always hiring program grads and never switching it up. Problematic behavior tends to persist. Programs need at least one person who isn't from there, hasn't cheered there, etc. to put fresh eyes on things and interject "Um hey y'all wtf this is a bad idea as a high profile program." (Not that people always listen but still.)
idk i played in the band in college, and i cant count the amount of shenanigans that went on during travel functions and camps. Nothing extreme but definitely some beer drinking, hookups... yeah so, ill be curious to see how much is told in how present the staff really was. To fire the entire UK staff, seems extreme so i wonder how much they were really around for it all.
