wowww. my high school couldn't even do libs haha

Mine either! They could barely do extensions... It was embarrassing.

Don't feel bad on my highschool team I got dropped flat on my butt out of... wait for it... a shoulder sit. Yea the girl forgot that I can't jump over her head and that she had to help me up there

growing up i learned that in a scorpion your leg was bent a spike your leg was straight and a needle was when you would like lean forward basically touching your foot and your back leg would be straight in the air actually like an upside down heal stretch

I think I have just come to the conclusion that this thread is about scorpions, but is not actually about scorpions???? are spikes and needles considered scorpions, or are they another position/move all together? And if the team is doing scorpions (bent leg) and only one flyer is doing a needle or spike, does that merit a deduction? I would assume a deduction would happen if the team was all doing bow and arrows and one flyer was doing just a plain heel stretch? Both circumstances would cause the overall appearance of the stunt to be a little "off". Just curious.

a spike/pencil is a straight legged scorp. its the sameee body position. its when a girl can pull a bow completely behind her head. its still a bow right? yes it is. but a bow and a heelstrech are totallyyy different body positions. just because i have a pencil doesnt mean my coach tells me to not pull it because its a different body position then everyone else when they are pulling scorps. so in conclusion, no there is no deduction for one flyer being more flexible then the others. :)

im not trying to start this argument back up at all im just trying to answer the question haha. :)

Thank you for that, that is Tori, my cp. She lives, eats, and breaths cheer, and she loves to fly. She is forever stretching too.

I have seen a thread like this in the past and had an opinion about it but decided not to express it...until now... my thought is this...and maybe I am taking the name a little too literally, but when I think of a scorpion (the actual critter) I see a tail that comes up over the back and it has arch or bend to it. I think it is AMAZING that these young girls are soooo flexible, but imo it is not attractive to see a scorpion that goes needle straight. At that point it is no longer a "scorpion", it is a.... "stick" or something. I find the scorpions with a slight bend or arc are much more beautiful. Also, when you have 7 or 9 stunts doing scorpions and only one girl can do the "stick" position, I think it tends to be more of a distraction, rather than an asset.
same here!

WorkMeOut....Thank you for patiently taking the time to answer my question....I am still trying to figure out (still..after 3 years of being around Allstar cheer) some of the different moves and terminology that comes with competitive cheer. Some of my questions prob get a bit annoying or might come off as if I am trying to start confrontational banter, but that is def not my intention! I sincerely just want to better understand what I am seeing at the competitions this season....just when you think you've got it all figured out, you see or hear something that makes realize you really don't have it all figured out. Idk, in competition, maybe that is just the way it is?.
..lol
