I wish people would reconsider this "paid bid or no worlds" thing. It doesn't always work out, and Worlds NEEDS Cheetahs and Generals!

As much as i would love to see cheetahs and generals at worlds, i respect their coaches decision to decline the event if a paid bid is not received. Programs develop their competition schedule months in advance around the number of opportunities each team has to get a paid bid. It is very unfortunate that WE and CA Cheetahs have to fight with some of the best teams in the country EVERY single national for a bid.

From a fan perspective, it woudn't be as much fun to not be able to see all of CA's teams in one place. But I think maybe they could benefit from sending teams to different competitions. I think in addition to competing with other gyms for bids, sometimes their biggest competition is just amongst their own teams.

Regarding the issue of go/no-go based on a paid bid; I don't know if Disney even cares, or how viable it is for them financially, but it'd be nice to see a bigger break on the cost of attending Worlds. Having attended UCA Nationals several times, I always had the feeling that it was less about competing against the best in the country, and more about whoever was willing to pay for it.

Honestly after this weekend I can't figure out why Worlds is not at a venue like Dallas Convention Center. There has to be at least twice as much seating in the arena and you avoid all of the "mouse costs". Six Flags can be just as thrilling as Disneyworld...just saying...

CA does not have that kind of policy about paid/at large bids. We have taken multiple at large teams to Worlds that have won.

So there is still hope of Cheetah's being at Worlds? yay!

and why do gyms even accept an at large if they weren't going to go with it? That just would stink for the team below them that would've actually used it!

I'm not sure what you mean by CA competing against itself. We technically compete against each other for grand, but we are never in the same division. (We did actually have 2 in a division once at NCA and got 1st and 3rd, but that was a unique situation several years ago before they split all-girl and coed open divisions.)

I think what they mean is that the level 5 teams at CA are all amazing and all compete against each other at the same comps for bids.

I don't know how Cheetahs got included in that, actually. We have always planned for all of our Worlds-eligible teams to attend Worlds. We have never had a team with a bid not go.

I'm sure they will discuss it as a team, but my assumption is that they will be at Worlds.
