Is Maryland too full of gyms?

I think maybe a reason that Maryland has a TON of all-star gyms is most Maryland high schools cannot compete and Rec and Pop Warner programs are pretty much non-exsistent or extremely poorly run so people usually resort to independent youth programs (aka All-star cheer). Also, Maryland is somewhat of a "well-off" state I guess you could say. People have the money to put their kids in all-star gyms so they do.

I am an owner of one of MD's Gyms and I LOVE our MD TEAMS! We are located about an hour and a half (with no heavy traffic) from the Twisters. But we have kids from all over PA and WV. Hagerstown is about 5-10 minutes from both PA and WV lol. But as far as it being too many teams, I have no complaints. I agree with an earlier post; that the gyms are all different. And I am all for anyone who brings home glory to our state! GO TEAM MARYLAND!

I got bored and did it.. you can add on though. I probably forgot some gyms. And I didn't do Maine because it wouldn't fit. But in Maine the 'bigger' gyms are Maine Stars, Elite Allstars of Maine, Maine Event, and Planet Cheer.

*I put yellow marks for gyms that consistently go to bigger competitions in the area (Spirit Sports, Athletic Championships, Spirit Fest, ect) since there are A LOT of gyms that tend to stick to the smaller competitions at high schools for their entire season.

i find it weird they don't have norwalk labeled on here since that's where xtreme cheer ct is out of like right between stamford & fairfield. i completely agree with what i bolded. i honestly haven't heard of the majority of the ones without the yellow marks..

wait, they're two programs? i'm thinking of the orange white and blue one...haha
Yeah there's two! I thought it was dumb how the names were so similar! Orange, blue, and white would be Pennsylvania Elite and they may still be around, but I haven't seen them in so long. It's probably because most of the competitions I attend are in the state of MD.

Yeah I was really surprised that it wasn't on that map. If I zoomed in like one more time I probably could have gotten it but it wouldn't get the whole area fit in.. not that I had it completely now haha

Not that is makes a huge difference in location, but YJ is now going to be in Middleton MA. They are run out of the Yellow Jackets Gymnastics gym, which was sold a few months ago. The new owner is a former olympian and wants the cheer program to have a new start. So he renovated one of the rooms in Middleton for cheer only and the program will be run solely out of that location.

You cant forget the awesome Rock Starz! Than theres also Triple Threat, Dynasty Spirit Elite and CCD right in philly.

As a coach from Philly I see this EVERY SINGLE YEAR... kids from this area will start at a small gym here within the state, build there skill and than run to the gyms with the big names. do to the lack of patience, the small gyms within this area can't grow because alot of the talented kids are jumping the border. It sort of makes me wonder if it's me...but than i often see those same kids that leave my gym to go to a big name gym, constantly bouncing from gym to gym in the tri-state area... The grass isn't always greener on the other side...

Sorry for forgetting rock starz!
I fully agree- in all states- kids work to get skills with small gyms and the second they have what they think they need, they're off and running to the biggest name they can find. It's sad for the small gyms with great coaches and staff that work hard teaching skills and then lose kids year after year.

This is my mess of a California map. As of right now it's just gyms that were on the wiki and that I knew off the top of my head. I know a ton of gyms are missing.

Its like this everywhere though.. Just in one city of the Tampa area we have Brandon, Cheer Express, Florida Wildcats, Bay City Storm, Florida Allstars, Cheer Tampa, Tumble Tech, Rock Solid, Revolution, Top Dog, stars athletics ... thats not even an entire state.. just a good 30 mile radius
i know which gym i would choose ahah
