Isn't the rule 10 year olds can be on teams with 18 year olds as long as they aren't level 5? i think there is a MASSIVE difference in the maturity level of a 10 year old and a 14 year old, but maybe that is just my personal experience

It is a completely different thread/topic, but the older girls on my daughters team (16, 17, 18) are extremely kind and sweet to my daughter. They realize she is 9, look out for her, and are great role models. I have been extremely impressed with their intereactions with my daughter.

I am seriously going to cry. She worked so hard for that toe full, that bh double, that two to whip double and just landed an Arabian to full punch double. All for what???? I am sick.

As a parent I cannot tell you how much blood sweat tears and heart went into these skills not to mention time and money.

:(

What happened to phasing things in? Voting on them? I just can't even comprehend everything g they just took away from my daughter. I am stunned shocked and disgusted.

Here's my biggest issue with all of this. I'm going to use a team I'm familiar with as an example.
The new international age grid. From what I know, around half (possibly more) of Cheer Sport Great Whites are under 17. That gym (no offence to the girls in the gym) does not have the talent above 17 to create a team as competitive as the team is now. I can't speak to many other teams, but I do know that there are quite a few athletes between 14-17 that compete in international (at least here in Canada, Idk about the USA) because there are either not enough 17+ athletes to field a competitive open team, or not enough senior athletes to create a truly competitive senior 5 team, or both.

If this rule apply to all us teams outside the US we will NEVER be able to compete at Worlds! And I'm speaking for most of the European teams. So sad!

My experiences have been similar, my international teams have been VERY respectful of the younger girls, and it has proved to be a great experience for all eliminating the drama that can come with open teams, and instead having a more big sister-little sister environment.....I can see where the issue of age difference can come up and be an issue for sure, but alot of teams are going to cease to exist!
