Maybe a dumb question here, but I will ask anyway. If you have a paid bid, are you required to stay in the Allstar or whatever the host hotel is?? Or can your gym choose to keep your team altogether and still be able to use the bid money towards a hotel with less notoriety?

I think if you have a paid bid you have to stay on Disney property, but it doesn't have to be the all star resort it can be one of the other hotels. I want to say that changed to this recently though, can someone correct me if I am wrong?

I have a qestion and I see this post come up every year and the block party gets shut down people are drinking underage its a mad house of a party

Why do they still do it ???? do theey honestly make that much money off of it to still do it ? USASF is so concerned about keeping the kids safe while they compete why not AFTER they compete why have a block party where they will be drinking and being crazy ? I am sure some people really love going but if it is that unsafe I think they should just cancel it?

I have never been to the block party so I dont always know the whole story just what i see on here

I'm not aware that the USASF makes any money from the party, the cost is included in the worlds package. Sure some people buy but I can't imagine that many buy.

The big party most are talking about didn't happen at the block party so it wasn't put on by the USASF. These athletes took it upon themselves to do this so even if the USASF had canceled the block party completely this all would have still happened.

Exactly and people seem to be confusing the two events here.

BUT, with that being said, this is NOT the first year that USASF has heard about partying at All Star sports and issues around the football field and the pool.

These are grown adults that have heard about issues and either (1) just don't understand OR (2) refuse to understand.

I'm going to do my best to make sure they can never say it's (1) ever again.

Yeah for those who are confused there were 2 things that happened Sunday night after finals.

1. The USASF Block Party that takes place within the Disney park itself. There was no DJ this year, which is a blessing after all the raunchy stuff that happened in the past. There were possibly drunk athletes there but from what was said it was a pretty calm "party".

2. At the All Star Sports resort there was a huge outdoor party thrown by the athletes themselves. This included dance and drinking by underage athletes as well as some who actually were 21. The security tried to put a stop to it and it didn't work. I don't know the details but it was said that someone kicked a security guard or something along those lines so a HELICOPTER started spotlighting the place and then cops showed up. Yes that is right cops showed up to break up a party at Disney World :cow:

So after years and years of being at Worlds and hearing all the stories of what goes on at the Allstar Resort I was diligent about knowing where and with whom my 12 year old was at all times over the course of the weekend. When she wasn't with her team (adult in charge) she was with a group of like age kids with parents I trust. After Coed awards she stayed to watch the rest of the competition from the Fierceboard section with her sister (18 years old) and Angelica and Donovan. All kids I trust!! After the last division competed her sister got on the bus with her and made sure she got back to the room safely where she asked if she could go to the block party. I sent out a few texts to my Mom friends and found none that were actually going with their kids to the party and decided in my head No Baby you can't go. While trying to figure out how to word the explanation as to why she wasn't going to be able to go she says..........."I changed my mind. I'm tired, I just want to eat and swim and go to bed" Me in my head........."THANK YOU JESUS" So she changed into a bathing suit......we headed to the pool area. It took me 2 trips into the building to refill our cups to figure out what was going on. I'm slow sometimes. LMAO At that point we moved where we were sitting to an area with tables with umbrella's but separated by a hedge from the place where everyone seemed to be congregating. After about 30 minutes she wanted to head back to the room so we did and she was well asleep before the helicopter's showed up. Apparently the Block Party would have been a safer option for her.......WHO KNEW? HAHAHAHA

I will say this. I never ventured up to the football field Sun night so I had no idea what was happening there until after it was over. I slept on the floor all weekend in a girls room as did my hubby who slept on the floor all weekend in a boys room. Any of the CEA kids that made the mistake of coming back to the bldg before curfew found themselves on lockdown. We wouldn't let them go back out and sent them to their rooms. Disney security came down the hall an hour later telling us to get out of the hallways. We said, we're chaperone's and we're an hour ahead of you. Most of our kids are already in. Notice I said most not all. LOL

I wish I could say the same about the group of parents that spent the weekend drinking right under our bldg from Thursday night until way past curfew on Sunday night with the 2 women who's voices penetrated the walls of the room. You were obnoxious! But I never saw 1 obnoxious kid from your program! Odd huh?
off topic....is your younger daughter on coed elite?

I am enjoying you tremendously this evening. I'm just going to follow you around here, shimmying, OK?

And I'm sure everyone is going to reply that gyms like CA and Rays can have zero tolerance policies because they're so awesome that no one would risk it, but some small gym couldn't afford to kick out the talented kids. I often wonder when people say stuff like this - does it ever occur to anyone that CA and Rays are the huge powerhouses they are BECAUSE they have zero tolerance for BS in their programs?
You're so right, if you make exceptions for one athlete the chances are you end up rubbing others up the wrong way and losing them not to mention it then comes across as special treatment and having favourites. Better off having a gym of 30 that follow the rules and are a credit to your organisation than 200 who bring your name into disrepute and don't respect you.

Sunday night myself and 2 other parents went with cp and her roommates (all 18 or over )to Magic Kingdom-extra magic hours till 2 a.m. Have done this every year. Plenty to do, they get to hang out together, have fun, not trouble!
That is exactly what we did. I am blessed with a level headed 14 year old who did not want to go (and would not have been allowed to if she did) to the block party because of all the things that have happened and seem to continue to do so in some form or another. Several of us went and had a great time, both young and old.
