Tennessee doesn't really have any state specific rules. You can compete whenever, wherever. Competition seasons typically run October-ish - February/March. Most teams do UCA or NCA, but quite a few just do allstar comps like Cheersport & Jamfest. You're not supposed to compete spring floor, but nothings enforced so a lot of teams do anyways. Our state (TSSAA) is usually the 2nd week in November and it's ran by UCA. There isn't any qualification to get there and a lot of teams don't actually do it. State is a qualifier for UCA nationals. Regionals are just brand ran and don't qualify you for anything other than that specific brands nationals. UCA Nationals and Cheersport Nationals are probably the two most popular competitions for teams in TN.

I have no clue what school it was but at one of the Jamfests in Nashville there was I want to say this middle school.. They were like so amazingly awesome!!
I want to say there colors were green and gold? Or something idk but I'm sure it had gold.

Anyways half there girls also did an Allstar team because I remember seeing them at awards and half were half way in one team clothes and half way in other clothes! Well they competed spring floor. In fact I only seen one time where a school was at those competitions and didn't compete spring floor.

I remember because they announced to us that this team from Kentucky was going around back to the practice area to compete on a dead floor and we could go watch and I remember like no one in the arena walked to the other side to watch but the judges did. Lol sorry that was random!

Lol. I'm a random person too! My team used to compete at Jamfest & Cheersport and they always offered dead floor, but we never did it. There was usually one or two teams that did, but that was it! Typically they would do that division last so that they could change the floor out without interrupting the other teams. I think one year they did it first right after dance divisions, but I don't remember when they put down the spring floor.

I seriously don't keep up with school rules but can they throw fulls at the competitions like Jamfest and stuff?

I believe (I don't truly remember) I would always see intermediate and advanced divisions. What can be throw in the advanced divisions?

When schools compete at Jamfest, etc the rules are the exact same as allstars. They go by levels and you throw level appropriate skills. Typically level 2 - 5. I've never seen a level 1 school, though there should be! The only difference I know of is Jamfest actually enforces the no baskets for middle school rules, even though middle school aged allstars can. Other than that it is all allstar rules (note: I don't know their policy on if they will follow the doubles and double down school rules.) I know that as of 2 years ago Cheersport followed allstar rules completely, even allowing middle schools to still do baskets even though no one else would. Again I don't know if they will be following the new school rule of no doubles or double downs, but if they do what they did with baskets, they will still allow them.

Ok this makes complete sense because whatever school I seen I want to say they had a few girls throwing fulls at competitions then I got to thinking maybe I was just dreaming that but it all makes sense!! Thanks:)

In MA we start our fall season at the end of August. Competitions (invitationals) start mid-end of October. Then Leagues will first week of November, Regionals second week and State the third week. Leagues you compete against everyone, divisions don't apply. Once you get to Regionals & State you compete in your division (D1, D2, D3, D4, Large/SmallCo-ed). Divisions are based upon your school size & enrollment.

For our winter season it starts end of November and Invitationals start end of January. Winter leagues are usually spread all throughout February and then Regionals will be the second week of March and State will be the third week (around that). Leagues you compete against everyone, divisions don't apply. Once you get to Regionals & State you compete in your division (D1, D2, D3, D4, Co-ed) Divisions are based upon your school size & enrollment.

For the winter season, if you place top 3 in the state you advance onto New Englands which is at the end of March. There you compete against NH,ME,RI,CT and VT as well.

In West Virginia, we aren't allowed to technically start practicing as a team until August 1st. We compete in Regionals the first weekend in November and States the second weekend in December!

In South Carolina schools have to compete at Lower State or Upper State in order to qualify for State. 13 schools total are selected to compete at state...based on the number of entries to the lowerstate and upperstate qualifiers. In order to go to lowerstate or upperstate you have to compete at at least 2 (or maybe its just 1) competitions during the competition season. Competitions start around the end of September...and qualifiers start the 2nd week of November.

Sounds like North Laurel MS.....they are awesome!

They are awesome, but they don't compete at JamFest or on spring floor. They are strictly dead mats and UCA style competitions.
True...I am strictly a UCA Rec/MS/HS person. Don't know much about the other styles, even though my daughter did SE for a half season last year. But I am learning a lot more and I have been to a few competitions, they are fantastic.

We have regionals in July and State in October! (Missouri)
then we can go to nationals if we want... you don't have to win state to go to nationals.
At regionals the top 5 teams from each division go to state, but at my regionals not many divisions have more than five. only one did this year. it's because not only is it separated by school size (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A) it's separated by JV, Varsity, small, medium, large. and come on, it's missouri... there were only like 30 teams there total!

Id just like to throw out there that High School Cheer in Missouri a JOKE. You can't swing in-between jump combinations or it doesn't count. Their rules are out-dated and old school. The "Bonus Point" Sheet is so out-dated. You get a Bonus point for Full Squad Double Toe Touches, Diamond Heads, Extended Lib - Tap to ground - Back to Extended Lib, etc. Why not make bonus points something worth while? Most people on the Missouri board are significantly older than the average person therefore remains traditional and old school. I wish High School Cheer would get more up to date in Missouri.

Haha as much as I agree with this, I won state twice with my high school (who won three years back to back...to back lol). In that division ^^^^ actually. But we won based on our clean and safe routines, not by having difficult routines. I understand that high school cheer is a complete JOKE in Missouri, I suffered through it for two years. But my state rings mean as much to me as the girl who won hers in Georgia. Sorry if I sound defensive, because I totally agree with you!
