what happens if someone on the team is jewish or a different religion and doesn't have the same beliefs.. wouldn't they be offended?
I never understood this. If they didn't believe in God or anything, why would they join a Christian based gym? It just doesn't make sense to me.if they get offended by Christian references, why would they join a Christian gym?

for the love of cheerleading. they are a great organization and there are not too many gyms in california. Who wouldn't want to join their gym?!

Joining a Christian based gym as a non-Christian, one would probably expect praying before full-outs, ends of practices, before competitions, Christian writings in their group facebook page, religious things on the uniform (t&s), etc. NOT a gospel themed routine with references to Jesus throughout it. Being Jewish, I would join a Christian based gym and be absolutely fine with those things. I would even be fine with a Gospel themed routine. I would NOT be okay with some of the VO's and poses in this routine though. If there were no Jesus VO's and none of the cross poses/stunts I would be 100% okay with it. As stated previously, some of these VO's were used previously without controversy. I didn't like them then, and I don't like them now. If the kids on the team are okay with it, I don't see a problem with it after some minor changes to make it less offensive to others.

Is it known to outsiders that it's a Christian based gym though? Without explicitly having to ask? I glanced at the website, and couldn't find any references, unless it's buried in team pages...If I were to move there, would I not know it was a Christian gym until practices started and they went to pray at the end?

Where as, with T&S there was a Bible verse on their homepage. maybe I'm just completely oblivious and blind, but I didn't see any on Cali's.

The owner lets parents know at the parent meeting before tryouts that they pray before and after practices and that they are a faith based gym.

Hahahahaha did anyone else see the girl weave through all the tumbling to get to the other side of the mat?! I just died.
Right?!? Who would run straight at tumbling to get to the other side of the mat... I seriously thought someone was going to get taken out.

In 2007 a team from NH did a patriotic theme and had bits and pieces of the american flag on their back so when they did shoulder sits it made the full flag and they ended up god bless the USA .. and they got a standing ovation .. and they got some boo's .. you cant please everyone unfortunately. Let there be peace - and I second the request to lock the thread

I think the prayer thing at Cali is getting blown out of proportion. It's not like they are having mass or reciting the scripture....it's a simple thank you prayer acknowledging a higher being and being grateful for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful sport of Cheerleading. It's recognizing that athletes in our industry are so fortunate to be as talented as they are....it's for team bonding. It's for so many other things too! It's a simple 2 min prayer to thank who ever you want for a happy and healthy life. There are no bible references in the prayer...there is nothing religious posted on our walls in our gym. You don't have to bow down before walking onto the gym floor. There are many people of different faiths at our gym. One girl who is Jewish doesn't participate in the prayer and another girl never participates because she simply doesn't want to. The gym does not force their religious beliefs/views on anyone ever. Our gym director and coaches are normal people not nuns and priests :)
