I feel so bad for Amanda and Debbie. All these newspapers (online) are slamming how horrible they are. How Debbie is so rude. I know Amanda is NOT like that. I've never met her, but she seems SO sweet, and Debbie seems so sweet too!

Last post on this. For the record, Debbie Sprague and my wife became very good friends from the first day of the show. Debbie has an amazing program up there. We got to visit this summer. Amazing group of kids and her daughter is very sweet. They are lucky to have an awesome coach like her up there training them. The "drama" between them was completely staged and edited big time. The producers weren't very happy with them cheering each other on during filming and wanted drama. Wouldn't let them stop filming until they got what they wanted, so they played their parts. I can't tell you how many times we had second thoughts about doing this program, especially when we found out about the changes to the format. That producer swore up and down on her own children this would be a family friendly show that would not cast the sport of cheer or anyone involved in a bad or crazy light. We fell for it. They threatened to sue me when we told them we would back out when they decided that the new competition format was going to be between Amanda and one of her current teammates. We said absolutely not. Truth is, I'm probably risking a lawsuit just posting what I've posted.

On a final note, I'd like to clarify that the part where they demonized my wife as demanding Amanda throw a full on the dead floor was completely false and edited. Debbie would NEVER push our children to do something that wasn't safe that they didn't feel like they could do. Of course, those in our close family circle know this to be the case, but I was outraged when I saw that on the show. My wife may be brutally honest and have the mouth of a salty sailor, but she loves her children more than life itself. That is the only reality.
I have the utmost respect for you and your family. Your honesty is something everyone will (or at least should) respect and appreciate. :) hugs to you and your family. I'm sorry for all you guys have been forced to go through because of this and for all of the trouble (and I'm sure stress too) that this has caused you all. Hugs to you guys!

Aww spoiler alert, I haven't watched it yet :(
Lesson learned: I haven't watched either. And although I already knew this, I kind of just proved it to myself, when something that will affect (effect?? gah, I can never get it right :/) our industry is on TV, that you either watch it when it airs, or don't come on the boards til after you watch it, because it's endless spoiler alerts. lol!

I thought it was rather comical that this is a big news story today given what we have been discussing.

That was just a discussion on Facebook too!! We were discussing this show and so I posted your comments on there for people to realize the reality of this not-so-reality show, and this topic was brought up. I thought it was comical as well.

Sorry for the double post, but Amanda carried herself so well. For a girl of that age, to say she was proud of the other competitor, it just makes me laugh that Riley's mom questioned Mrs. Butler's parenting. The Butlers are clearly doing some great things in the parenting area!!

I kinda question the Butler's parenting....

Debbie & John are great parents. The school system in Florida sucks and I believe they would home school their children whether they cheered or not. I have been to their home and it is immaculate with 4 kids and all those animals. I have been out to dinner with all of them both of our families and their kids are very well behaved compared to mine. Gabi speaks very intelligently. Amanda can be sassy and she has a lot of talent.

You can say all this... but what she displayed to millions of people is very contradictory. I feel sorry that her 15 minutes of fame was worth making a mockery of her family.

The quick and dirty on affect/effect. When it's a verb use affect, when a noun use effect. There are a few instances where this doesn't apply, but I'm not sure what they are.

Affect = to influence
Effect= a result

That is the quick run down.
