Sorry if this has been asked before but I was just curious as to what the criteria is for a division to be split into an a and b division.

It's based on the number of athletes on the team. For example, the small gym small J2 division is split into A and B with 10 in A and 6 in B. We we told that teams with up to 16 members would be in the A division and 17-20 member teams would be in the B division. I am unsure of how many teams they have to have before they do an A/B split, and I am also not aware of whether the numbers 1-16 and 17-20 are the criteria to split all small divisions or just that one. I hope that helps. Oh, and good luck! Let's rep WI!

Thanks so much! I was just curious because our division was originally split and now is not. Good luck to you guys too! Were definitely going to be there supporting you guys when we can! :)

I was thinking the same thing. SSX, medium coed, and SSCX are all going to be at spirit cheer while SE and CE aren't?

I'm not from their gym, so just a guess... But I'd think its to give all teams an equal chance at a paid bid. When you have a team in every worlds division and travel everywhere together, odds are some of your teams won't be getting paid.

It's a smart move, but I feel like it may take away a small part of the "family" feeling of a gym if half your coaches are elsewhere. Maybe not, though. I guess that's what happens when you have so many locations!

Prodigy obtained their bid in the Large Coed division at WSF. However, they weren't planning on staying in that division with the smaller number of males for a large coed team and dropped down to medium, opting to have the guys earn their spots and compete with the maximum for medium (this was posted somewhere else on the boards but I don't remember where.)

Doesn't that mean they have to get a new bid? Your bid is for the division you competed in, no? (Except when the EP mergers divisions)

I think thats exactly what she was getting at. When you get a bid you must stay in that division with the same number of athletes or less
