Now I see why CEA Co-ed lost. From the front it was a little shaky. I love the stunts, but when you get shaky that's when the judges look for things to take away.

Our gym has had a lot of down time...First with hurricane sandy the gym was close for 2 weeks no practice and then the hoildays closed again. So for use it is early in the season.

New England teams don't compete much, if at all, before January. ECE just had their showcase a few weeks ago. It is early in the season for those teams, and Spirit Cheer last weekend/Athletic this weekend is really the first big event of the year for a lot of those teams.

Not that anyone was talking about New England teams with that excuse, but it's true enough for us. I think we tend to get a later start in the summer since schools go through the end of June.

I've had a thought- hear me out on this one.

What if CEA/CA aren't choreographing for the FRONT row spectators, but the BACK?

Think about the last time any of you have gone to see a Broadway show or even school play. Ever notice that if you sit really close to the front of the house it seems a little over-the-top, but if you sit towards the back everything seems normal? Actors are taught to act 'to the back of the house' (or auditorium/theater). We're getting TONS of close-up video, but most spectators don't consistently get that close unless they're friends and family. Additionally, from what I'm seeing, most judges are at least 10 ft away and elevated a bit (at least, at all the bigger nationals). I know at Worlds, the judges are pretty far back from what people have said on here. Why NOT get that extra intricate formations score when you can? Gotta take points wherever, why not hit them in something so easily taken for granted? Plus this way, no matter WHERE you sit, you're getting a good show..

I think this makes a lot of sense, especially if you watch the newest videos posted that are from front on, further to the back, elevated views. Looking at it that way, the routines look a LOT better, and not 'too busy' at all, imo.

Ridiculously close view of Stars (at least it's HD, lol)

Here's what I'm really confused about. Those 3 "cartwheel" doubles that go are really nice, and impressive, but their coaches have to know that a cartwheel full isn't standing tumbling and that those athletes could be used better in actual standing passes....
ETA: That pyramid music gives me so many chills..
