I know its only February but my work already has our schedule template out for April/May (crazy I know)...so I present the following questions:

1. Are there tentative dates for tryouts?
2. Will you be attending CheerSport next season?
3. Are you forcasting a tuition change from what is in the 2012-2013 tryout info?
4. Will youth teams be getting new uniforms?
5. If an athlete wants a particular team, is that taken into consideration with placements? Can the athlete write a letter explaining why they want a specific team?

Can the athlete write a letter explaining why they want a specific team?
I have no connection to CA (cries) but I'm thinking they can write whatever they like, but if they don't have the right set of skills to be on that team, they'll be placed where they (and their team) will be successful.

i have no connections either (crying right there with you) but what if a child wants to be on a lower level team than they may actually be skill-wise? or they're borderline youth/junior age and want a specific age bracket team? that's how i took her post. or maybe i'm wrong? it happens :p

True, but I think it goes both ways. If you've got higher skills they may need you on a higher team.

oh you're right, it absolutely does. and at a normal sized gym, they have to do what's best for them. at a CA sized gym, if one kid wants to compete down a level, i'm thinking they mighttttt just have a few extra kids able to fill the void.

i'm just speculating since BlueCat is too busy trying to win paid bids to answer us :p

More than half the people on my school team go to CA. For tryouts one of them said you write down your top three teams on a paper , then after you tryout and they pick which team will fit you best. You don't always get on the teams you wrote down.
For example that same friend has her full and is working on her double. On her paper for tryouts she is planning to write 1. Swooshcats 2. jags 3. pumas. She will then tryout for those teams and hope she makes one of them if not they will put her on another team.
ETA: this is coming straight from her mouth, I'm pretty sure what I wrote is write but she could have lied to me. Lol

1. Tryouts will be around the same time, but dates are not set.
2. We do not know our competition schedule until about 1-2 months into the season. We have attended CS in the past and enjoyed it, but it is at an awkward time for us preparing for NCA.
3. Yes, we anticipate tuition increasing, but not by a large amount. That info (plus #1) will be available in our tryout packet. That will come out in 4-6 weeks.
4. I don't know.
5. You can request a certain team, and it will be considered. Specific requests for ride sharing/sisters/practice times etc. that are realistic, significant, and valid are accommodated when it doesn't hinder overall rosters. Requesting to fly, to be on an older team than your normal age group, or to be on team with higher-level skills than your athlete are unlikely to make an impact on rosters.

Luckily cp doesn't fit into any of the above. It is simply her last year of youth eligibility and she has never been on a youth team. She has even wrote a little essay listing all the benefits she can bring...
Speaking of siblings, this will be the 1st season I have two kids in the gym again! Oldest is trying out for Dance Athletics! I'll have to change my username to CADAmom...or something like that...

Phoebe will cheer again??? yay :)

Will there be any "official" picture taking for some of the athletes at NCA? There were so many kids following Jamie Andries and Matt Smith at Cheer America that I felt really bad for them. Mine asked to get a picture after awards, but understandably, they just wanted to go home. I know NCA will be infinitely more chaotic and I will not allow her to chase them around the convention center.

I don't think that NCA will set anything like that up, but you would have to ask them.

The whole cheerlebrity thing is probably a topic for a different thread, but event producers are going to have to start beefing up security for the team-only areas. You simply wouldn't believe the scene backstage after one particular team of ours performed. It was incredibly difficult for the coaches to get the team huddled up to talk about their performance after dozens of athletes AND ADULTS??? had ignored the barriers and gone into the "team only" area. The team was trying to listen to the "post-game speech" while being pulled and yelled at by people wanting them to pose with them. Others were simply reaching over the athletes and aiming their cameras down into the huddle. It was very frustrating as a coach.
