All-Star Sex Offender Arrested At Cheer Comp

and this is why the crop top rule has been established...

I doubt they were caring about pics of kids in crop tops. Think heel stretches, stretching, bending over. It is the sneaky pic they want, not the half top. How do I know? Personal experience. When CP was probably three, I picked her up on my way from work and we were at Target and trying shoes on her. I am squatted down with skirt pulled over knees but look through the shoe rack to other aisle and there is some idiot laying on the floor trying to look up my dress. He was so lucky that I could not push that rack over. Then again at the library. Look throught the books and some idiot on the ground trying to see up my dress again and had himself exposed. I chased that joker. Security got him. I was alone that day, though.

I will be more vigilant in watching other people, though. I don't care if I do hurt a few feelings. Just with Instagram and all, I can't imagine they are finding more at a comp that they can't find on Instagram. I asked one set of parents that I know whose CP is 10 if they ever go on Instagram. They said, No. I said, You probably should. I left it at that.

xomckenzieee and 12stepCheermom I agree with you however I think it also has to do with the age of the cp. It is one thing for your teen cp to be at the competition (or at the mall or in the city) with friends and equipped with a cell phone. It is another to have the 10 and under sect running around at comps unsupervised just because they are in a group and have cell phones.

I am also not for over-policing my kids online especially since neither of them has ever given me any reason to be concerned about their friends or activities in real life. They do know however I expect to have full access their accounts and while I will not follow them on twitter or Instagram, I will check up every once in a while.

notyourcheermom Exactly! They want those shots, which are taken while they are on the mat. While the cover up rule may, in addition to it's original intention, help keep some interested eyes at bay while not competing, it is not stopping the perv paying the $15 entrance fee to snap action shots of the kids.

CheerBank and notyourcheermom are 100% correct.

in the original "fake social networking" thread, there was a man Christian? I think. He was from another country (i am drawing blank now. Germany maybe?) but he somehow found the more popular "cheerleb" girls on facebook and in any photo of them in a heel stretch or any "exposed" position he tagged himself in the most inappropriate place. when we went on his page, it was a collection of cheerleaders' pictures in heel stretches and scorpions.

his profile showed he was a 40-something year old man, and his Facebook likes were all cheerleading pages and sexual-content pages. even worse was that he photshopped some of the girls' heads onto some uhh... risque' photos.

i contacted some of the girls/their parents through facebook message so at the least they could untag and block him (though i have a feeling he already saved those pictures to his computer.)

unfortunately creeps will be creeps. the coverup rule can only do so much.

Vile. And this wasn't even someone taking his own pix at comps, sounds like he was able to get off on what was already out there. That was great you were able to notify some of the kids and parents, and you are spot on in that creeps will be creeps.

just heard of him and think checked out his pages. Really, effing creepy. Cannot even fathom the thought process on that.

Ummm. No. Because seniors can still wear crop tops. Unless that has changed.

yes, but all kids should have a cover up on, even seniors, when not competing or for awards. Generally, the creeps that come (like above) target the younger participants... i.e. child pornography, having pictures for their own pleasure....Senior age kids are usually in high school, and are not as high of a risk as those who are not in high school. Not saying they are not at risk, but they are at a significantly lower risk than the young ones we see running around in half tops at competitions, much like the one where this man got arrested at.

also would like to point out that sometimes the pictures that photo companies take are not always the most appropriate either... with the internet these days, anyone could find the more... revealing... pictures with little thought. it is a scary concept...

that would be me i think its great we have the passwords but it doesnt work if they get posted all over the web!
Haha, yeah thought it was, couldn't remember your username on here! Nice job :D

I think this is one of the places where the UK can benefit from being in the shadow of the US in terms of cheer- we can see where things go wrong and hopefully put measures in place to prevent those things from becoming an issue over here.

The sad part is is that these cheerlebs can't even protect their pictures from this creep because there are so many fan and fake pages with their stolen pictures on them. Granted they should have made their pictures private in the first place and he still prob could have gotten them because its the internet but most of his friends are fan cheerlebrity pages with tons of stolen pictures on them.

Worked for the 12step family so far and (so far) I've got some amazing, and responsible, kids. Well keep this plan until that changes.
I will say that my mother held us to high standards: she never snooped on my fbook/texts etc (granted, I doubt she knew/knows how), but my life had to be in tip-top shape or else I'd be in he double hockey sticks. And it was- both my sister and I always had great grades and lots of honors. When my bro threw his little shindig where all of his friends were in HS and got drunk 'til they puked, my mother decided she needed to shorten the leash a wee bit on him..granted he was the trouble baby, my sister and I were far too nerdy to get into shenanigans :p

We allllllllways know :) #eyesinthebackofmyhead

I am presuming the new cover up rule will take care of this problem, but I cannot tell you how many times I saw older girls changing from a shirt into their uniform tops in hallways of convention centers. Yes, I know they had on sports bras that typically cover more than bathing suit tops, but it was just the idea of it. A great way to get the wrong type of attention from a creep.

This made me laugh as my kids used to accuse me of having those same eyes. They never seemed to get it that as soon as it got TOO quiet my radar went into high gear.
Saw a sign on Pinterest..."Never underestimate my ability to find S&&& out!" Which should be the motto for all moms!
Seriously, though, this is a call for us ALL to be vigilant with our own kids and other CPs too. If someone/something doesn't look quite right, I would rather report and be embarrassed for being wrong than stay quiet and regret it for the rest of my life!
