I think you guys are rude for talking about Cheer Athletics. Clearly you're talking about some of their athletes which I find to be very talented.

Honestly, yes I was mostly talking about Cheer Athletics. That's where most of the athletes being recognized solely for looks are coming out of. That's nothing against CA or those athletes, it's the ridiculous mindset that a nice set of abs and a high poof are what should define our sport and not the skills themselves.
Hopefully this post isn't too difficult for you to read.

I should clarify. It is impressive to have a nice 6/8 pack. It does take quite a lot of dedication and effort for any normal-bodied person to attain defined ab muscles. I just don't think that it's the right message to be sending that THAT is what should define the "perfect" cheerleader.

To add to that it isn't a "talent." A talent is something that a person does exceptionally well and that not everyone is good at. Any physically able human being can perform the ab exercises that will eventually give them a nice stomach. It doesn't require a special skill that isn't possible for everyone.

Excuse me? Thats really rude, and I'm not sure if talking down on others is something that makes you feel better, but you should approach situations differently. If an athlete is talented, and has abs WHO CARES. Its wrong for you to try to single them out. I think you're a little naive to think that it's just those abs that get them recognized. There are plenty of cheerleaders who have abs, those cheerleaders just happen to be world champions, and are amazingly talented.

I think it's pretty obvious. Lets be real.
I mean there are plenty of people outside of that program who are famous when they have level 4 skills and nothing more.
CA athletes, at least from all I've seen, have the skills to be role models.
Other programs and other kids? Ehh, debatable.

Go look at what he said, that was what I was referring too. He just clarified it.

If you think some of the Ca athletes are famous because of their talent you're wrong. If you check tumblr, when picture with CA girl shows up you'll see comments like she is so pretty, look at these abs, look at that poof, she looks like a Barbie. And this is what made them famous. Abs and being pretty at practice. Nothing else...

Don't get me wrong! I think all of CA kids are so talented!! But for example Kelsey became famous because of her tumbling. Did CA athletes became famous because of their skills? Probably a few but almost all of them became well known because of how they look. Because if they wouldn't have abs and big poof probably noone would even noticed them.

Ugh! I wish I would've saw this sooner... Azune already made the point that I was going to make. You're insinuating that programs like Cheer Athletics do not place people on the correct teams. If you're not willing to say it to BlueCat's face then do not say it at all. They earned their spots, they earned their popularity and they have talent... These athletes may not have the toe full or the double double but they have a billion instafollowers and an amazing, friendly personality. If anyone doesn't agree with team placements please tag the gym owner or forever hold your peace.

I think it's pretty obvious. Lets be real.
If you had a daughter is that what you'd want her looking up to? Girls with big hair and abs and thousands of instagram followers? Or girls who have been busting their butts on level 5 teams since they were 12 and getting recognition through talent? I grew up during the Kelsey Rule era and idolized her because of what she could do during a routine, not because of what she could do with her hair and makeup before it. And it seems like that time has come and gone. The point being made here is the focus on beauty and fame is completely overshadowing the sport aspect of cheerleading. Trying to get respect as a sport is hard when 15 year olds are selling signed and scented bows to they "fans". That's downright strange. And is just making our sport be the joke people want to make it out to be.
