All-Star Scores From Competitions

UCA and USA have been horrible this season about posting scores. UCA finally posted scores for a Dec 7 comp in mid January after I emailed them three times about it.

USA will only put the ranking list out from the Dec 14 comp. They will not put our the results with scores and deductions. I personally believe it is because of the crazy judging that went on. I have emailed them and asked them for them. A month later they posted the rankings. I asked for the scores. She said she could get me my CPs' divisions. Two weeks later I checked in and she said they are only released to the coach.

UCA was here again last Saturday and when I asked them when results would be up on Tuesday they said it takes a week for them to get scores, input them, etc. A week after the comp scores still aren't up. Seems silly that a Varsity company struggles with such a simple task when small EP get them up in 24-48 hours. (I'm dying to see how my mini did. Their only deduction was for their music being a second too long. What?! This is their third competition. Wouldn't that have been caught before?!)

Rant over.
If they got deducted for their music, the coach would of been informed and if that is a wrong deduction the coach could of fought it and should of played it back to show them the time is correct. unfortunately that is the problem with judging, not all mistakes are caught 100% of the time.

I am focused on your name @Mama Of 3 CP's

All I think is my 2 are so expensive, can't imagine 3 cp's! LOL
It's a little nuts but I didn't want to tell one or two they couldn't do it and the other one(s) they could. Luckily we don't have car payments right now and our kids are aware that we don't go on vacations or buy extras (electronics, nice clothes/shoes, mani/pedis, concerts, etc) because all of that money goes to cheerleading. They are grateful for it. They are also 4.0+ GPA kids in HS and MS, which I am grateful for. ❤

I like when they publish them, UCA regionals, NCA, ACA, Jamfest, and WSA are the ones that I notice always publish!

I love ACA because not only do they publish, they announce them at comp!

At Cheerpower they just post placements and ASC does the same. Cheerpower gives the coaches the scores for their division so that's nice but if I recall correctly ASC doesn't even give it to the coaches but only your team scores and that really doesn't help much at all if you want to see how close you were!! Good thing I agreed with our placements or I would of been upset with it! Lol

I believe that CheerPower posts all scores back in warm ups during two day events. I could be mixing up my competitions though

Oh yes I'm sure they do, they just don't post them online after the event. So I have to ask the coaches lol and I just rather get them myself!

Some parents have their kids take their phones backstage and take pictures of the scores. LOL They post day 1 scores pretty fast back stage. The second day they wait because they want awards/results to be a surprise.

This is one of my biggest issues with all star cheer. Always has been. How can all star cheer ever be considered legitimate unless there is complete transparency in scoring? ? We are expected to just "take their word"?? That makes zero sense. Imagine if gymnastics did that at meets? I also think that judges identities should be announced and available. In every other sport, being a judge is an honor. Even referees are introduced! And they take more heat than anyone! In cheerleading, they hide. There is a real need for accountability in this industry.

I've only seen 2 surveys sent out on the topic and in both more coaches said they didn't want scores made public than said they wanted them public.

I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. I'm so over people wanting to "hide their secrets" or maybe they're just worried that people will realize they're winning and shouldn't be, or whatever the reasoning is behind not making scores public. Until there is open and honest transparency, we're all just in one big guessing game. I'm sorry but our sport has grown way too much and come way too far to still be questioning why we did or did not win...

Then what are the coaches trying to hide? And how many coaches were surveyed? Were they gyms with winning records? Were they sent all over the country? Are these survey results public or are they secret also? Who sent out the survey? Did you survey athletes? Or parents? Ya know. .. The people that pay for all of this?

Ok, so maybe most parents aren't as cheer-educated as they could be but I think scores should be published and I would think most coaches wouldn't want to "hide" behind the scoresheet. If I am a "consumer" purchasing a "product" how am I supposed to know if I am getting a quality "product"? I totally get that I could never in a million years understand the rules and the scoring but I am completely capable of understanding that a gym shouldn't be consistently putting out a product with a raw score that is 6-8 points below the max for any given level. If a coach wants me trust that they are making the best decision for my athlete, the other athletes, and the team then they should be willing to share the most obvious measure of that decision making.
