That's what I saw too. And that apparently someone tweeted that they were sooo happy not to have to represent Cheersport at Worlds. Where are the coaches during this?! Especially the trophy/medals in the trash part, because onlookers might see the athletes doing this and make judgements about your program. Eek.

ive seen tweets from a coach that were not very nice at all. Shouldn't this person be leading by example? The kids see a coach doing this and they think its ok for them to write things.

If cheer extreme didn't pull out of battle at the capitol because they thought there teams didn't score where they should have at jamfest Indy then ssx would have definitely gotten their paid bid there.

I have seen tweets from a coach saying they aren't going to talk about a situation with the EP out of respect..it seems like they're blaming somebody for being unfair to them instead of acknowledging what happened on twitter.

edit; What bothered me was that they were telling the people talking about SSX to think before they judge and it came off like they were blaming the EP for the attitudes and actions of the girls.

I find it sad that "twitter incidents" seem to be more and more frequent... This is a competition sport, so obviously everyone's out to win. But how can people not be prepared to handle disappointment in a better way ? Maybe it's because I'm not really a competitor at heart, but I just don't understand that need to expose their frustration publicly like that...

EXACTLY. Like in this sport, everyone's experienced strange results. I've had times when I completely disagreed with the outcome of the competition and thought the judging was ridiculous. But do you need to make that public? not only does it make you look bad, but it's hurtful to those who did win. You don't have to think they deserved it, but you shouldn't blatantly state that they didn't deserve it. Like you can be disappointed, you can be mad, but discuss that off the record with your coach, teammates, parents, friends even. Not on twitter. If I tweeted this stuff, I'd be getting a serious talking to from not only my coach, but probably also the gym owner and my parents!

I wonder where the $25,000.00 goes? Does it go all to the team? Does it go to the gym? That's a real lot of money. A senior worlds team would have definitely benefited from that. They could use that money to cover the costs of whatever their paid bid didn't cover.

All prize money goes toward the program as a whole, not a specific team or athletes on that specific team.

We try to foster the ideas of teamwork and a gym-wide family atmosphere. Individual athletes or even teams getting checks would go against that. We don't want Wildcats (or Tigers, IBK, etc) hoping another CA teams falls so they get to take home a bigger check. Also, you don't want to run the risk of ruining an athlete's amateur status.

I think that's my biggest issue with teen tweeters in general. Why is it necessary to publicize every emotion, thought etc that you have to the entire internet. I don't think kids in general feel any different than everyone else did growing up we just didn't have the avenue to make sure the WHOLE WORLD knew we we happy, heartbroken, mad, sad blah blah. And what baffles me more is how they don't seem to get what it makes them look like....the whiny heartbroken girl, the jerky subtweeter or in this case the disappointed hothead. If you want all these online followers why do they not care what their public persona comes off like? Smh.

Any attention, good or bad, is welcome these days. Funny enough I'm watching a movie on paparazzi right now. These people enjoy the bad attention, the fights, the subtweets, etc.

Yeah I don't get 90% of what happens on twitter. Like I tweet but I'm careful what I say and would never tweet most of the things that pop up on my timeline. Subtweeting, whining, twitter fights.... just why? Especially when people tweet about their relationship issues... like if I had a bad breakup I wouldn't want the whole world to know about it?
Well to be fairm I guess I've subtweeted before but the majority of my twitter is silly cheer tweets, pictures of fun things I see.... yeah that's basically it. It's mostly cheer

And I was REALLY liking SSX this year. Be salty all you want, but keep it off social media and don't take pictures of your trophy in the trash. That's just classless and gives your program and team a bad rep.

You can still like and enjoy the talent and skill of the routine without agreeing with the girls actions. There are 20 girls on the team and only 5 or so were tweeting negatively.
I know the saying that one person can ruin it for the whole team but not liking the whole team and their routine is a lil extreme.

Does the team that wins the money get any sort of recognition within the gym and use the money for their own benefit so to speak? For example new gym equipment for all the athletes to use? I completely agree with your philosophy of family and CA does that very well - it just seems a bit of a shame that Jags (using them as an example because they won it this past weekend) would do incredibly well and win the money and it be spent on something such as paying for Senior teams to go to Worlds, since Jags cannot attend.

I still think they're an incredibly talented team and have a very skilled routine! I just dislike the way that some of their athletes were representing themselves. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and slightly disappoints me because I was really rooting for them this year. I didn't mean to sound like I thought they weren't talented or their routine sucked or anything. They're great. Just not a fan of their attitude.
