Can you explain how these 2 statements go together? As @quitthedrama said, just because Jamfest supposedly said it was OK doesn't mean no usasf rules were broken. The rules actually very clearly say in black and white that no athlete may compete for 2 different programs at the same competition.

Ok, so I don't know if any USASF rules were broken so I retract that statement. But I do know that in that instance, Jamfest told us it was okay.

Unfortunately, don't some comp. allow unlimited crossovers as long as you compete in your correct age category?

Not USASF sanctioned event's.

IEP can decide their own rules. Jamfest is not an IEP.

Am I forgetting a rule banning or limiting crossovers?

If a child competed for ABC Allstar's in session 1 at Jamfest and with XYZ Cheer Allstar's in session 2 at Jamfest, then yes, USASF rules were broken!

Wondering how many coaches are not aware of an athlete not being able to compete for more than 1 gym at a competition?

Ok, then the rules were broken but I didn't know that at time and would not have known that had it not been for this thread because, like I said, I asked them specifically if we could sub her even though she cheered for a different gym in session 2 and they said yes! Won't happen again...PROMISE!

Apparently, quite a few. Which beg's the question, if so many parents know the rule, how can the people you pay to be the expert in allstar cheer not know? I would be furious if I was this team and their owner/staff didn't know it.

And that's why I'm on here all the time is because I DON'T know these things -- I, along with the gym owner, am still learning about running a gym, and an all star program, and all the different competitions, and their rules, and the scoring sheets, and the different levels, and changing your levels...all so confusing! So thank you to all that are helpful!

LOL When you know better, you do better.

Are you the owner of this program? Coach of that team? It just baffles me that parent's are paying you assuming you know the rules for the sport they're paying you to teach. Just makes me curious how many other rules y'all don't know.

Assuming in OP scenario they were well aware since was planned out and not just a spur of the moment issue.

Correct me if I'm wrong, hasn't the USASF fined gyms before who had permission from the EP to break USASF rules? I'm sortof expecting the same thing to happen in this instance.

The violation was absolutely clear even if jamfest said it was okay.

I mean, the Kia salesman can tell me I don't have to follow the speed limit because I don't know what it is on that test drive road but I don't think that excuse will fly with the cop that pulls me over.

I suggest you read these before your next competition - most of the rules are pretty clear and every gym owner and coach should be aware of them, particularly the basic rules. The rule in question is on the last page of the Age Grid rules.
