ok last video i just came across that I will post, Woodlands Elite Captains. Large j3. they have two in that division this year and this one is my personal fave of the two and i like their stunt sequence!!

Did Cheerforce Nfinity or Blackout compete this weekend? I was really impressed with Blackout at their showcase and I'm dying to see what Nfinity looks like this season.

Cheerforce Nfinity and Blackout compete almost every weekend for the next 4-5 weekends. I promise to get you all come videos up here soon. We're excited to show you all our hard work in the gym! Keep you're eyes open for vids :) GoodLUCK to everyone

Actually day two was a much better performance, but you all are not the only one's that didn't like it. The judges didn't like it either. We were trying to do something different that just didn't work. It will be changed before our next Nationals and I expect a much better performance from Generals BOTH DAYS. As for the opening into the baskets....... it is different, but so far the judges have loved that part of the routine so we are going to keep it for now. Hopefully you all will like the routine we put on the floor in two weeks much better.

Good luck reworking it!

Look! I made you all an image reference. If you're looking from the side and the flyer's leg is in that position or greater in the air, she's at a higher risk for falling out of her tick-tock. Thanks, math!

The math geek in me wants to know how you determined this haha.

Here's an HD recording of Top Gun Allstars - Angels. Unfortunately it's directly from the side:

not that I expected them to be bad, but this was much better than I expected. they look great! My only complaint is how many of them aren't jumping... which may only stand out to me because of the side view, but there are too many of them standing around and only 2 that tumble right after that I could see the need for them to be out of jumps.

why competing with 22 though? Since they nugget most things and just stand there for stunts I'm not sure what their purpose is?

Some of it is actually math, and some of it is visual 'math' lol.

I took the vertical portion of the right angle as the 'base line' of a flyers body assuming they're standing in platform. I said the horizontal portion of 90 would be if their leg was directly out in front of them at the hip. Divided that in two to be 45 degrees, and divided it again to get 22.5 (to account for realistically how far your average arm would be able to stretch in order to grab ankle, plus to bring it in closer for where the stretch would actually be as performed), which for the sake of life I rounded down instead of up because even numbers are awesome.

Then the visual math came in. I looked at all the flyers in a few routines who did a tick tock (the video was at an angle/side), and how many of them bobbled or fell. With my visual aid open near the video, I eyeballed the measurement of each stretch to see if they were at my angle or higher. If they were at my number or lower (better stretch), they were much more likely to hit solid than they were if it were at about 22 degrees or greater than that.

This is also pretty much physics- because having to reach far forward on the opposite leg disrupts the base line, which can often cause flyers to 'butt out' of the stunt, and considering the head and torso are the two heaviest parts of the body, it makes sense on a physical note as well.
