Well can we give our youth 1 a bid ?? I mean they are next in line twice.

All our other teams have a bid so it's not really fair to leave 1/7th of your program at home and they are almost all mini age competing as youth...

And they work really hard so is there like an application process we can apply for a bid if we really want one???

Just have them compete youth 5 at a varsity competition = free at large.

This idea is pure brilliance and my kid wants to crossover to this team at summit since she is still youth eligible.

Hey they may even place better in the y5 division than they would in y1 then we can brag about our placements at the summit!! Why didn't I think of this!

You could actually then replace the entire youth 1 team with youth aged kids that actually have level 5 skills. It's not against the rules.

Varsity announces Y teams will be eligible for WC bids NEXT season and to celebrate they give free WC bids to the 8 Y5 teams that have ALREADY competed at Bid events THIS season thereby prohibiting anyone from changing to the Y5 division or creating a Y5 team to get in on the free ride and now they change those WC bids to AL bids?????:jawdrop:

Varsity = :wham:

I guess I'm still missing the relevance of the connection. It's nice that youth teams can be eligible for WC bids next season but I'm not seeing how gifting an entire youth division with AL bids is a commensurate means of celebrating a general announcement. Just seems out of balance. The small gym summit announcement seems to have a much greater impact on gyms nationwide but I didn't see a celebratory bid giving to any small gym teams. And what's the rationale for choosing y5? Numbers I guess? Why not y2 or y4? I'm sure those kids are deserving of a bid, but I saw some amazing teams at CHEERSPORT from varying levels and age groups go home empty handed too.

The first year of the Summit, we took 3 of our 4 teams and only left 8 kids at home. It was really hard to see how upset they were and that we had to say no at adding the 3 youth aged kids to the youth team that was going just because they didn't have BWO's and would've hurt our ratios. They were some of the most "deserving" and hard-working kids in the gym too.

Can we make this happen? Like video qualifications a la UCA nationals.

While every parent wants their team to make it to the Summit not all teams should. This was billed as the top 10% in the country, the best of the best. Our gym last year qualified 6 out of 7 eligible teams with 2 teams having paid bids. This year 4 out of 8 have qualified most of our teams have 2 or 3 chances to qualify or upgrade to paid. Most of our junior and senior teams remained the same each team adding 2 or 3 new girls. Not going last year is what has motivated that one team that did not go this year and they got their bid at Cheersport Atlanta . My daughters team got their paid bid last year at Cheersport Atlanta and at large bid at WSF Louisville. I personally do not like the w/c they are to easy to get. My CP division already has 21 at large or paid bids with over 30 wild cards. Last year that division had 38 teams with no Wild cards. As tough as it sounds the Summit is supposed to be the Super Bowl of the sport and not everyone should get to go.

We qualified all 8 of our teams last year, with 3 of them paid and the other 5 at larges or an at large at every comp in my daughters case but they only decided to take paid bids and one team in agreeance on going on the at large so they took 4 of our teams of the 8 that got bids.

This year they told every team we would take them on paid or at large. Still no wildcard bids but no one here wants them so that's ok.

With the wildcard bids being handed out to numerous teams that won't make it past Friday they decided to take a lot of the real bids away making them harder for us to get.
3 have paid, 3 have an at large, and then y1 has nothing. It really sucks they probably won't get it at NCA so they are left with probably not going and I think they would do well. And it does suck when you lose out to bids because teams at your own gym got them.

(And yes we have more kids this year because last year there were a lot of small teams with 15 and this year there are several large teams with the full number on it so that is why we have one less team)

From what I have read and don't have computer handy to look it up but there are slightly more paid and at large bids this year. Last year there were 100 paid bids 350 at large. This year I remember seeing paid staying at 100 but at large at 370 ish. The wild cards have to be adding 200+ teams to the mix. Sorry my opinion of w/c is all about $$$.

The wild card thing COULD have been a good thing...offering more opportunities to earn bids where teams couldn't normally. Here (no clue if a similar thing happened elsewhere) a competition that offers Summit bids had three fewer to give away this year (I think! From memory, 1 fewer paid, and 2 fewer AL). Our consolation prizes are 2 wild card bids at a one day comp. :(

The more bids are likely added with more competitions then.

Several of the comp we went to this year handed out less paid and at large bids or they allowed a separate competition for small gym to get half the bids.

I feel small gyms should have to beat us if they want the bids. When they go to summit they don't get to compete in the small gym division because there isn't one (except now they created a small gym summit for next year). Why do you want to hand over money for a paid bid to a team that won't have a chance against larger gym teams.

(I'm not saying large gyms are better and I don't really consider us a large gym except we have more than what is considered a small gym)

There is a small gym here who got a bid for all their teams last season (4 of them) because they competed in small gym all season and killed them. They went to Disney and every single team was out on day 1. They aren't use to seeing big gym teams and I believe their parents had no idea what the beast of summit was.

I don't feel aca should hand out half their bids to small gym in a separate competition. They didn't last year.

I don't feel cheer power nationals should spilt into small gym, medium gym, and large gym

And only give 1/3 of their bids to large gym.

This is why there are less bids for us that is where I have noticed the less bids is at these comps.
