Standing Tuck Conditioning?

Another great drill to do in the gym is to put an incline on top of a pit mat, or a stack of crash mats. You want the top of the incline (the high part) to be behind you, and coming up to your mid back. Then you practice your jump, set and you start to back tuck (really a roll) up on to the incline. That helps you think UP, not back.

A good conditioning drill is to lay on your back on the floor, your arms up by your ears. Then do crunches where you pull your knees up over your head (in a tuck position). Your hips should lift off the floor. Try and do these as quickly as possible.
 
Get your favorite routine music and a spotter. Have them spot you on continous tucks to the music! Dip for your tuck on 1 everytime. It is a great workout and really helps towards getting your tuck :)
 
I cheer for a Level 5 team, me and one other girl are the only ones without a standing tuck... I just can't get it! Any Advice?
i can relate to this do a ton of crunches and when you go for it pull UP! dont look back and bring your knees to your chest because you need your feet over as fast as possible =] hope this helps
 
do tons and tons of crunches and wall sits to gain the muslce! Do them all the time during water breaks at cheer and once you strt landing theem start doing them in 8-counts! (or over and over again in a row). It helped me a lot when i was first learning!

Good Advice! I'm defiantly going to do this.
 
What really helps is getting REALLY low in your dips, like it might feel a little funny the first time. That makes it sooo much easier, as soon as i did that i landed it and it works really well 4 me. But thats just me :) haha but i'd give it a try:cheering:
