I am thinking there are many on here who might have experience in this department. I am heading south for a cheer comp next weekend and was thinking about looking marshmellow white...not a pretty picture. Maybe I should get a spray tan? Someone told me Mystic tan was the best but I really have no idea. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated. I don't want to look orange just a nice healthy glow, nothing dramatic. Hollywood Tans? Beach Bum? Mystic? No idea???? Help!!!

Tanning in the direct sunlight is always going to be your best bet for a good tan, but I live in Florida so that's easy for me to say.:p I've heard from many people that mystic is the way to go with spray tans. But honestly, If you've never gotten one before I'd get a "test tan" first. Especially if your skin is already really pale, you're more inclined to look orange. So many times girls get these streaky disgusting orange tans, and honestly, I'm more inclined to make fun of the girl that's streaky and orange than the girl that is pasty and has healthy skin.

Whenever you spray tan you have the choice of different levels. Obviously the higher the level, the more color in the spray. I suggest that you start out with a light or medium spray tan and do a "cocktail" or "double dip". This means tanning in a regular bed first and then doing your spray tan immediately after. This opens your pores so that your skin can absorb the spray tan better. Don't use any lotion in the tanning bed or else your spray tan will be blotchy. I would suggest going a day or two before you leave and having it done. That way if you decide you want to be darker you can always go again. Also, Mystic tan is good and is what most salons use, but I would check and see if there are any salons near you that use Versa Spa. I've used both, but I prefer Versa Spa because it sprays you, dries you, and you can even choose different moisturizers and anti aging mixes too. If you do choose Mystic, make sure you follow the instructions carefully and really apply the barrier cream to your hands and feet, especially in between your fingers and toes, and a lot on your finger nails and toe nails. That's where most people get blotchy because they don't apply enough. And with either, make sure you wait at least 6 hours before showering and don't scrub too hard and same with drying off, just pat dry. Hope this helps!! :)

See if anyone around you has Versa, it has always given me the best results when I needed a quick tan. If they do have a versa I suggest getting the clear spray because the instant color in my opinion tends to look more orange. They also have different shades that you can get, since you are pale I would beware of going too dark.

if you're really as pale as you say do NOT get a spray tan. you'll just turn out orange..

buy yourself a can of Netrogena or Loreal. Put lotion on your toes, ankles, front/back knees elbows, eyebrows, nostrils nail beds and knuckles. Have someone spray you...small areas with a back and forth motion. ( in a garage or stairwell in a hotel so you dont stain anything of become overcome by the fumes) imediatley wash your hands front and back with soap making sure you dont let water drip down your arms. Blow dry your body until you are not tacky to the touch. Repeat.... better than any spray booth for about $10 bucks!

Yes! I have a place not to far that offers Versa, Mystic and Autobronze. I think I am going to give the Versa a try. I am told i should exfoliate and moisturize the day before. I hope this works and I am really not as pale as a marshmellow. :p I am blonde and medium-fair I think it should be ok. I will try the clear first and then go back and go a little darker if that is not enough. How long does it last, a week?

1. Exfoliate and don't put lotion on any part of your body before hand. It can cause splotches.
2. Make sure your legs are shaved before hand because you aren't going to want to shave them for a few days after.
3. Don't wear makeup into the booth.
4. Follow every detail of the directions that they give you.
5. Don't shower for at least 6 hours afterwards.

Oh and don't waste money on the scents. They smell gross.

and yeah that seems to be the mystic consensus...NO NO NO ;)

Really? I love Mystic! I make sure to add the "enhancer" (it seems to make it fade away more evenly) and NO to the additional bronzer (makes me streaky). But I only do the lightest or medium because I'm in Canada haha

If you do the Versa correctly you shouldn't turn Orange. Make sure you exfoliate and shave beforehand. Also make sure all of your hair is out of your face because if not you could get a line on your forehead.

I suggest the clear color and either the light or medium depending on how much color you want. Also I would say try and go either Wednesday or Thursday incase there are any spots that aren't perfect and it will fade a bit.

HAHAHAH funny spray tanning story. When I was in 8th grade my friend and I decided to get spray tans for our 8th grade graduation. When I put the hair net thing on I put it a little too forward on one side and the lady spraying me didn't notice so when I took the hair net off there was a white line of skin on the side of my forehead! Luckily she had some remover wipes and we fixed it but it was kinda funny
