Is this the book that a thread was started about approx a week or two ago? Like someone was advertising it or something? IDK bc I didn't read the thread, just saw the title.

Call me crazy, but aren't published books supposed to be edited for grammatical errors, etc.? Was this book self published or something?

Yes this is the book from before. Yes books should be edited. Yes this was self published.

I gotta say the grammatical errors are killing me. It's taking me forever to get through it because I keep putting it down because it's annoying. Truthfully I learned more about cheer from the thread about the book than the book. It's really like I'm reading a 9th grader's diary. Not much about cheer, but a lot about parties and boyfriends. And her outfits. She describes what she wears for everything she does. And her hair. :banghead: The little bit that is about cheer is spent on blaming her flyer when a stunt doesn't work (and her bases when she's the flyer). And that she saved her stunt so amazingly that all day total strangers were congratulating her - as a matter of fact it was so epic it was later posted on YouTube (She doesn't mention that she was the one who posted it).

It's completely self aggrandizing and arrogant. Her intent was clearly to get revenge on anyone who's ever slighted her in any way, while also bragging endlessly about herself.

All I can say is that I hope she hasn't made herself to look like she's been this perfect little princess.

She tried to. Very unsuccessfully. Victim all day long - everyone else smokes weed, everyone else parties around her while she's just there wrapped up in a blanket, everyone else is basically a slut (males and females).

Her mother seems to be around for quite a bit of the partying, which i find significantly more upsetting than anything these other people did. Either she's oblivious (doubtful) or condoning (likely). But that is all swept under the rug like it doesn't matter. She talks about coaches knowingly allowing underage drinking in their homes, but when it's in her home she says her mom "went to bed". Yeah, and didn't hear basically a whole team getting wasted in her home?

The book is ridiculous, not scandalous. I doubt I'll ever finish the whole thing.

Thank you for taking one for the team and trying to muddle through it so I now don't have to. I'd much rather read your posts about the book (or about anything) than to have to burn my eyes out with the actual book.

I'd like to start this post off by saying that I am NOT "Kayleigh". Kayleigh has allowed me to use her name to post since I am not able to post for another 72 hours. (Bummer) The following post is my sole opinion, and is not being represented by Kayleigh.

I spent the last 24+ hours reading the book, reading these posts, and all I could do was shake my head. I have been involved in all-star cheerleading in Illinois since 1999. I've seen all, heard all, and most importantly made relationships with the people who have furnished the powerhouse gyms in Illinois. Most of those people are mentioned in this tragedy of a book. Luckily, I borrowed my good friend's kindle to read it. Yeah, I wasn't paying $10 for this...as juicy as it seemed.

It's disgusting to me to think that someone would publish a book that lists personal & private conversations. I kept pondering in my mind, why? Why would anyone do something like that? I have burned some bridges myself, but I would NEVER in my most frustrated and irate mentality even think, (nor have the time) to sit down and write details (most of which personally incriminate me) of my life for the world to see. Not ever.

While I don't know people the latter half of the book, I DO know, in fact, all of the people mentioned in the first 3 chapters. And whether or not the information that is published in this book is true OR fabricated it's not the authors job to be the law or God. How can you tell the most intricate details about someone's personal life, which are negative, and then 3 paragraphs later write "they are a good person...she's a sweetheart...I genuinely like her." What? Is anyone else baffled by this? Like many people have posted, if there is an illegal issue at the gym, call the police.

What I find to be MOST hilarious (other then the previously mentioned million typo's and grammatical errors) is her mom was well aware of the illegal drug use, underage drinking, and all of the other supposed commotion she claims. I can't speak for all of you parents out there, but when I was involved in all-star cheerleading, if my mother EVER found out about any of that, you better believe she'd pull me out of that gym so fast I'd probably leave a shoe behind. And she wouldn't think twice to take it to authorities and/or the gym owners.

This book is a sad excuse for attention. I'm no expert, but it seems to me this mother daughter duo have alterier motives and this book is/was their way of exposing all of the people who "wronged" them in the past. Maybe they are hoping for a Lifetime Original to be aired by next Worlds? I mean, PR wise..the timing is impeccable isn't it? Guess what? People get wronged every day. It's called life. It doesn't give you a right to expose people's personal business without their consent. You want to rant? Super. Do it on Facebook. Twitter. Don't publish a book so the named parties cannot defend themselves.

Now, before all the people start saying I condone the activity that is mentioned in the book, I do not. I absolutely do not condone underage drinking, smoking illegal substances (and selling it) and all of the other irrelevant information (like her love stories that no one needed to know....like really?). I'm just simply stating, there is a time and a place and a "high road" approach and this was certainly not it. Just like Destiny's Child once said, "I'm not gonna blast you on da internet (cuz my mama taught me better then dat!)" Same goes here.

Peace, Love & I feel sorry for whoever does her taxes,

-Vivian Darkbloom (come check me out in 72 hours!) ;)

Vivian... you are spot on! I agree with everything that you say but would like to add....
I have an 11 year old daughter in cheer. If she sees this book, she would want to read it. She looks up to some of the people mentioned in the book and rightfully so. This toxic piece of trash is reprehensible.

Just-a-Mom Spot on review! I just had to die laughing. She was doing the big reveal on the people by exposing their dirty laundry and then you get the heart of matter, she wanted them to open a gym with her and they blew her off. When she dissed a specific Waffle House for a bad breakfast, I got a hearty laugh. Oh and that HORRIBLE gate agent. Why she showed her. She got so ANGRY. And she even called out a middle school kid. Oh my. Between all the stomping of her nfinities and so on, I actually felt bad for the people who were mentioned positively in the book. And then the anti-bullying pitch. Dear Lord. Pot meet kettle. And the fiance...well, bless his heart. I guess he knows what he's getting into.

Can we please be best friends?

Isn't there some due diligence a publisher needs to do prior to sending a book to print? Like fact check, and notify (and get approval from) those people whose real names are used in a book?

It's almost certain self published. Not very hard to do.

Amazon gave you a refund?

Amazon will give you a refund for basically anything. It's good customer service, but they'll black list your account if they think you're abusing it.

I see you posting that this mom knew all of this drinking was going on, and I am NOT condoning it at all, but I have personally seen parents at these competitions allowing their kids to drink and even supplying them with alcohol. It does happen. I have also witnessed parents drinking with their underaged kids. So there is "some" truth to this book it seems. I am just trying to figure out for my child's sake is this really the right sport.

There is bad parenting and poor behavior in every sport and activity. Raise your child well, trust but verify, and s/he will be just fine in cheer.

So true! Part of the reason we left the rec program we were in was due to the amount of drinking by the parents. Every parent event revolved around alcohol. Board meetings were in a restaurant and they drank during the meeting. When I got the word that police were involved because parents were drinking at the park during football practice, I knew I was done. That said, I never heard of any underage drinking within the organization.

There are bad apples everywhere, you just gotta know to roll out of the bushel when you smell them.

I'm no parent, but I think this is probably some of the best advice I've ever seen someone give. This is something I am definitely going to remember for when I have kids and am faced with situations where this would apply. :)
