Hi everyone! My partner and I are trying to learn how to partner stunt. I am a flyer and I have stunted before while my partner has little to no stunting experience. We are taking it step by step and building from the fundamentals and the basics (i.e. weight lifting, strength training, core workouts, etc.) but we need help with technique!

As of now we have just been practicing the bounce and toss to get the height right. I have been practicing standing in his hands while he is in a sitting/laying position with his arms up perpendicular to the floor. During this, I use a nearby chair or wall to stabilize myself and my partner is slightly wobbly. When I let go of the wall, it becomes more wobbly. Is this because I am unbalanced? Or because he can't hold me up there stably? (I assume it's somewhat of both) Also, what can we do to improve on this other than practice? I can perform a full extension in a regular stunt group (one flyer, one back spot, 2 bases) as well as full extension one legged stunts.

If it helps, this is how much he weightlifts:
dumbbell bench press - 70
barbell bench press - 165
squat - 225
dumbbell shoulder press - 55
can do well over 100 with barbell
power clean - 135
deadlift - 225
dumbbell incline benchpress - 55
bicep curl - 75
(all of these are for 5 sets of 5 repetitions)

Any help with learning how to safely one man stunt is appreciated!

All you have to do is squeeze really tight and hold a hollow body and lift your weight that way it is easier for the base, make sure you are in the right position and you are ready to go!

I truly belive thats its pretty much 90% of the bases work! If they cant lift you and keep your feet flat or provide a nice sturdy surface for you to stand on, then there is no use. As the flyer you need to pull your toes to the tops of your shoes(this will lock your ankles making it a lot easier for your base) and then youll need to keep your shoulders rolled back to balance out the weight. Keep everything tight, dont look down, and HAVE CONFIDANCE AND TRUST!

Make sure your base is standing bone over bone, meaning everything aligned. Stunting is more about technique and leverage than strength.

Yeah it may be your base is new to partner stunting! Just lean back as you jump into the toss, like a slight diagonal angle...and squeeze TIGHT haha. Also maybe practice two mans and then slowly transition from allgirl to coed - that helped me a ton when I was learning partner stunting.

Also, make sure you have your shoulders a little back. I find it a lot easier to coed stunt when my top girl is settling into the stunt, rather that trying to stay overtop of it like an all girl group. Squeeze the hips and relax the shoulders
