How do you get rid of a mental block quickly? i have a terrible mental block. i have been cheering all my life but recently i became terrified to do any tumbling (even with a spot) but now my coach is saying if i dont tumble im off our competition team for school.. HELP!
Is it fair for someone who has a mental block (not throwing ANY tumbling at all) to be on a level 5 team? IMO I think that they should be put on a lower level team until they recover from their block.
Something that helped me a lot was "Breaking Free" by Debbie Love! It is about 4 pages long and explains pretty much exactly what you should do. It helps a lot! I hope if you have been struggling with mental blocks this helps. You may have to read it a few times, but trust me it works! Hope this...
I'm 14 and I started cheering when I was 12. All my coaches say that I'm super super close to my back handspring and that I would have it if I just did it. But I have a hugeee mental block. Sometimes it's so bad that I'm do scared to do my BHS on the wedge with a spot. It has gotten...
I've cheered for 8 years. I had an injury 2 seasons ago and I have not cheered since. I want to go back for my senior year of high school but I have a mental block on tumbling. I can only do a roundoff now. All my flying skills I can still do to a level 4. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks :)
I was meandering through different gyms tryout packets, as I was just curious. And I was reading one gyms packet and it said, "No mental blocks…they are destructive and contagious…if your child has a mental block, your child may be asked to leave practice and up to possibly being removed from...
Did you ever have a mantal block? Why did you get it? What were you afriad to do? Did you get over it? How?
Sorry I'm just curious because I've know people with mental blocks and I want to see if anyone else was afraid because of the same reasons.
Does this happen? I've only heard of mental tumbling blocks. Not sure what to do/say if anything anymore to my cp and i certainly don't want to fuel a potential block.
She's still in tryouts, but "tryouts" are actually loosely formed teams practicing together for several weeks and at the end...
As a parent, it's heartbreaking to see a child work hard to achieve new cheer skills ... only to lose them to mental blocks. Has anyone else either experienced this first-hand as an athlete OR been the parent of an athlete with a mental block? What would you say is the best way to be...

I recently got over a mental block of doing a standing back handspring (it took about a year). Now I throw it without thinking. But when I get spotted for roundoff back handsprings, I freak out and won't do it! I know I can do a standing, how can I work up my confidence to throw a roundoff...
I finally got over mine tonight after two and a half years and it was the best feeling in the whole entire world! <3 I was crying hahah :)
How about you? What's the biggest thing you've ever conquered in cheer? :)
