All-Star 2013-2014 New Uniforms

As one of the designers of the Top Gun OO5 uniform I take great pride in seeing artwork and ideas that have been pulled from pop culture, existing creative pieces and original creations and developing something I consider to be unique and stunning.

This leotard, short and gauntlet combination is in fact more fabric than this team is normally accustom to and quite practical as a performance garment as they clearly just got through two days of rigorous competition. The side print (in my mind which clearly some of you should never enter lol) is a flashy take on a cat print...Top Gun Jags...at this point I'm convinced some of you just like to speak bc we moved two straps from one day to the next and some of you thought it was a completely new uniform...really?

The Pride and Scorpio in me wants me to just tell some of you that your taste is basic bordering on dull and that someone like you will never be remembered.

Instead I say this...you live in a world where you want cheer to to be a sport so bad that you fall in line and create an image that you support so whole heartedly and blindly that anyone who steps outside of it is wrong...well not in my world. In my world cheerleading is a unique athletic activity...everyone shouldn't look like everyone else...elements like presentation, showmanship and creativity don't exist in "sports." But here in cheer there exists the ability to combine Acro, gymnastics, theatre and other elements all with a flare that is seen NOWHERE ELSE.

Some of you totally get it and are too afraid to reach for it...some of you won't...some of you are dead set against it...either way I love what I've helped create...and stand proudly by it.

Those of you who praise our organization as innovators and game changers must understand that it is a double edged sword. Are we saying this is the look that All Star cheer must embrace and conform to? No bc we would never want that and would never want someone to impose upon us that way. But what we are saying is that this team of 20+ year old individuals deserves something as unique and as different as they each are and that compliments the jaw dropping routine their coaches have created.

Your opinions are yours to share but your insults are neither needed nor welcomed...the uniform looked great on stage, served practical purposes and our athletes look and feel great in them!

I just have one very sincere question: When you all created this uniform did you not think for even one second there would be any fall out? If part of your purpose was to create a stir and be the "talked about team" ...well mission accomplished. I just wish I could have seen past the uniform to see the fabulous routine that Top Gun is consistently known for putting out on the floor. No disrespect intended...really.

It's a SAFETY ISSUE. I'm not saying other uniforms aren't, but any uniform with a strappy design has a chance to cause an injury. Plus any uniform that does not have adequate "coverage" leaves room for wardrobe malfunctions.

which is why the stomach straps are removable. maybe they did the straps to get attention, but dont plan on competing with all of them attached. who knows. which is why im interested in seeing video.

I don't think this is TG's problem to solve. The judges were able to do it and 005's score proves it.

I haven't commented on the uniform initially but have read every post in here.
It's definitely not my favorite TG uniform and while I don't care for the straps I think the rest of the uniform looks pretty and fits them well. I even like mesh on the grown men. Lol

Plus my eight year old will tell anyone willing to listen that she is going to live in a Pent house in Miami, she is going to pay me to clean her house and I got a 100$ week allowance and can live with her for free and take her two girls (because she knows that's exactly how many she is going to have) to cheer at Top Gun because she is going to be busy being an anesthesiologist.

So I guess if my future hypothetical grand daughters are going to go there then I should get ready!?

Yesss for being an anesthesiologist! I've wanted to do that since 7th grade! Hooray for anesthesiology!

I don't see anything wrong with that TG uniform. It's an open team and it's a crop and shorts (basically) so I'm feeling like it's a lot of "hate" by people that 1) cannot wear it (physically) or 2) cannot afford it......

If there's going to be a nip slip (and there will be), it's probably an inappropriate uniform. Regardless of the division the team is in.

Yes practical...have you put the uniform on? Have you tumbled or stunted in it? Were you made privy to any malfunctions or mishaps that the designers or coaching staff weren't over the past two days?

And by some of your rationale any uniform with straps is a safety hazard...please listen to yourselves...20 years folks...mistakes and mishaps happen but it's not like we just blindly throw things out on the floor.

i doubt it. top gun has done plenty of uniforms in the past that were low cut, etc. and i never heard of any of them having a nip slip in the past. with all the back straps connecting to the top and the neck area it probably wont be an issue.

NCA 20..10? 11? The ones that were halter-tube tops made them look like referees? I think those they had pop-outs on two occasions? Including Worlds..

The only teams that I can think of who insist on making gauntlets a thing are Cheer Savannah and Top Gun...
