I think the fact that some of these pictures with the heel facing out instead of forward (or whatever)...however their hips are square has to do with the fact that the flyers are sickling their ankles. Its blantantly obvious when the heelstretch is "wrong" because the hips arent square...like in the CEA picture to me it looks like.

1. Squared (bad ankle/foot)

Honestly, a lot of these heel stretches are pulled to the side because they are probably about to go for a bow -n - arrow which correct me if I'm wrong but is pulled to the side. Most people don't think about their heel being to the front because they just think about pulling the bow -n -arrow.

oddly enough.. I prefer stretches to the side, but close to the head.
often, when people try to pull them straight up from the front, they can't get it as high, and it's ugly
