I'm learning my back hand spring and my coach wants me o try it without a spot I'm worried I will fall on my face and embrace my self what do I do

Maybe you could try using an octagon to lean back onto and roll you over? You could also try trampoline or tumble track to help you build up confidence. If you are worried about being embarrassed, maybe book a private lesson and go to an area of the gym that is quieter, like on an edge strip. Have your coach stand backing onto the people when he spots. His/her spotting will kind of hide you if you happen to fall over. You could also book a private lesson when there are not many teams training, or they are training on a mat far away from you. Hardly anyone or no one will laugh at you if you keep stuffing up though, they will be too busy with their own skills. If you are at a gym where higher levels make fun of lower levels, I suggest considering if this gym is a positive environment. Good luck!
