Bounce Backs Running Tumbling

I just recently learned round off back handspring layout bounce back. And i have been having trouble with my calf muscle it's a really sharp pain when I bounce on my toes when I'm punching for the punch front. It kills my calf and I don't know if it's from tumbling technique or not. My coach just said it's cause it's a new skill and I'm triggering a new muscle. Is this true?

I'm no expert BUT my cp has just started doing a bounce back in her tumbling and is having pain in her one thigh that she's never had before. So it definitely could be you're working a different muscle. Regardless, you need to take care of your calf muscle, rest, ice, maybe some advil, etc.
