All-Star Cheersport Nationals 2012 Schedule

They don't go by scores, because CHEERSPORT scores are only relevant as compared to teams within your division. (They are NOT valid to compare from division to division.) I think I was told they simply have judges from various panels discuss it and potentially watch videos and decide as a group.

That is pretty much my understanding of it as well. They meet both days after all the worlds divisions have finished competing and decide who they think would best represent Cheersport at Worlds. With divisions being split up and so many judging panels...you can't really give the bids out according to score, so I guess this is the system they have come up with....

In the Cheersport Nationals Awards thread CHEERSPORT indicated that worlds bids would be given at each Worlds division awards ceremony.

So I guess they know ahead of time how many bids they will allocate to the International divisions, since those bid will be given prior to the Club divisions being complete on Sunday?

I remember my coach telling me that Saturday was the important day because they base worlds bids off of the performances Saturday. I'm pretty sure that's correct.

From what was explained to me, this is how it happens:

All Teams compete saturday. Judges/EP discuss saturday after the competition to determine who they think should walk away with paids and at larges. They pick more than just 8 teams that they thing deserve it. Then before the awards session, they decide if that team is still "worthy" of a paid bid after their day 2 performance.

I think they divide up the bids between International and Senior divisions based on the ratio of enrollment. (If 3/8th of the Worlds teams are International, then 3/8 of the bids go to that age group.)

From the CHEERSPORT EP's and judges I have spoken to in the past that is not correct. I was told that similar to the score's, each day is equally relevant.

This is the first year that we have ever gone to CHEERSPORT. This was also the first year we ever competed in Indy. I guess you can teach an old dog (cat) new tricks.

(Please note that for this year at least, we aren't bringing the whole program.)
So BlueCat after Cheersport you will need to let us all know if it was worth learning a new trick with all of your travel this year!!
I love your teams and would love to see more of them!!

It's hard to believe my cp has been cheering for 7 years and this is my FIRST Cheersport nationals!!! I have never been to Atlanta and I am a littl escared lol...i have gotten hundreds of tips from other parents but this has still gotten me nervous...
I have been going to Cheersport for years as a coach and this is the first year my CP will be going after 5 years of cheering also. She is excited and I have explained to her the magnitude just because I didnt want her to freak out and she is only 9. I had to remember that my CP has done this for 5 years now and I have to believe that she is ready after all of this time. Tell her to have fun, relax, and her body & mind is trained to know what to do. Have fun and I wish you all luck!!!

Colour coding the list since I'm bored. Apologies if anything is wrong.

I HIGHLY recommend if you get there early enough Friday to take your CP to the GWCC to just walk around and see it, and take it in. I encourage ANYONE that has never been to the big events to try and go early just to see when it isn't as crazy. There are people there and things going on Friday so it's fun but also helps Saturday's chaos not be as overwhelming. Best of luck to everyone!!!

I guess there is still kind of that mind set that if they are not impressed with you after day one...your probably not gonna get a bid after day two even if its substantially better. However considering have the teams will go home with at least an at large...I don't think its that much of a concern.

So take the IOC6 division, there is only 1 team in it, will they even have a chance at a bid whether it be paid or at large? I am trying to make sure I understand the Cheersport way to hand out bid before the competition gets here, but when it is sort of whoever they want will get the bids it is a bit more confusing.

That brings up another question, why did they ask for FAME to compete against CEA in large senior so that they could have competition yet they have another division that only has 1 team in it?!?

I know there are TONS of "unknowns" when considering the way they give out bids but from my experience they tend to get it pretty right. They TYPICALLY spread their bids out between large and small, coed and all-girl. I think IOC6 is a different animal because you can't combine different levels.

Her coach has already told them to be there by 7...they are taking a tour together before their practice Friday night. I thought this was a great idea. :) can't wait!
