We're a club team from Germany but this year we want to take our styling to a more collegiate look. So I've been surfing pinterest and searched for game day looks but I'm not really getting, what I'm looking for. Maybe you can help me. :)
I'm looking for a collegiate look but it needs to be some sort of ponytail (low probably) as we don't want the half up half down style for competition. I was thinking about a side pony but Im not sure, how you actually style that (is there any teasing going on?).

I would looove to see your looks and maybe get some tips on collegiate competition make up as well. :)

I've seen some schools do a mid/low pony. I think Bama does that.

I would stick to gameday makeup looks for competition. Looks cleaner and more professional than funky makeup (the looks great in all-star, not so much in college; you should aim for a simple, sophisticated look).

We did a low/mid ponytail with a side part and very loose curls to give the ponytail some body.

Thank you @retiredl5cheer ! That looks pretty much like what I want, yay! :)

@Official OWECheer thanks! I'll look at some tutorials for that. We've always had smokey eyes. So maybe do that but a lot less drama would meet that look?

We're having a girls' night tomorrow and will be doing hair & make up. :D

My last year cheering, at nationals our girls did a small braid near the front and then back to a ponytail.

I'm not sure if I'm even describing it right lol.
I think there are old pics of it on the KU Cheer Instagram or Facebook

When I do a ponytail I usually do a low pony with a teased bump in the back. If I end up doing a pony for one of our games this weekend I'll snap a pic!

I like the look of a mid-pony at about eye level. Bow facing backwards.

I am not a fan of a cheerleader in a side pony.

    Bows should always face backwards.

For my daughter, who cheers at NCSU, for makeup a lot use the Naked Palette from Urban Decay. Some go more smokey on the eyes than others-but a more classic look. All use a makeup primer, a setting spray and very specific red lipstick. For NCA they did low pony but if shoulder length or shorter it was half up/down but low For game day its half up/down curls on weekend, stright during the week. If its super humid or raining-just a pony with the side braid.

I wish I had a picture of the back of my hair that my coach did for nationals but it was basically a teased low ponytail. Gamedays our hair was down, teased up a bit with a bunch of bobby pins yes, but down. I'll find pictures and post them!

When I started cheer something like 12 years ago, it was still that way over here as well. I still remember, how awfull I found the Mickey Mousy look when some girls started wearing their bows way higher and to the front. :D
I have to say, I kind of got used to it but I'm also so over it.
I'm predicting a much more collegiate style coming back. Already, lots of girls are switching from Nike Pros to the running shorts style Varsity shorts. Last year's national team had their hair in a low ponytail as well for the first time.
Personally, I'd love for this to become a trend. :)

Thanks for all the advice and pictures! It's really so helpful!
Some girls wanted to try braiding. And I'm okay with trying it but I don't want a hairstyle that is too complicated or that onle two people on the team can do and the have to do everyon's hair on comp day. Way too stressful! They're there to compete not spend hours on hair & make-up.

As for make-up... watching some videos has inspired me to take the spending money I have left for the month and order a Naked Palette. :D It should arrive today, I'm excited! Usually I only buy pretty cheap make-up. ;)

Is it Sam? She is in grad school? If so her parents and boyfriend are so sweet! They come down for every game! I sit with them a lot.

Yes! Her parents used to let me stay with them at competitions since my parents couldn't go. I love that family!
