My personal favorite way to do it is to; A; get the video camera. B; wake up at the Butt crack of dawn C; Get the camera rollin and then tell them...they will be mad you woke them up so early but soon as you drop the bomb they will love you forever!

That pretty much sums up how we did that for our two cps (before they were cps)... minus the video camera. Really wish I had that on tape!!

I think I've decided to do letters on index cards. We'll give her one letter per hour and let her unscramble them. I also got her a journal with Mickey Mouse on it for autographs that I'll give her when she figures it out. Thanks so much for the ideas! If anyone has any more, I'd be happy to hear them!!! We have 2 weeks before we go! :cloud9:

Since it's such a special first trip for you guys, I highly recommend planning ahead for all the touristy stuff to do. You can look up on website for special things or just call the Disney travel reservation specialists off the website and they can help you.

Schedule a character breakfast/lunch or dinner. If you check there are various ones at different restaurants and different resorts. The Princess breakfast at the Grand Floridian is one of the cooler ones for girls but it fills up fast.

The Sci-fi theater at Epcot is an awesome lunch place. make sure to get the glow in the dark ice-cubes in your drinks.

You can have dinner in the castle as well. That is great and if you schedule it when it starts getting dark you can see all the lights in the park or if you schedule it an hour before the fireworks, then yo can see them out the window while you are having dinner (that's a late dinner, but it's cool).

Those are the cool things I can remember right now, but if you check there are some cool destinations you don't want to miss at each resort. Plan for them now and you can make sure to get reservations. But be flexible and don't pack your schedule so rigidly that the kids don't have fun.

I hope this helps

OMG! My dad, for christmas wrote us a little poem that described Disney Land (even though your trip is to Disney World) and we were all like "What?" And then beneath the poem was three disney cards for us to spend on whatever we'd like!

Another idea; buy a regular white pillow case.
Take a fabric painter and paint Mickey on one side.
On the other write "WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!"
Then, while shes sleeping, put her head on it. When she wakes, she'll probably be really confused, and then be all like "OMG OMG OMG OMG!" Haha:)
Good Luck and Have FUN!:)

yknow i forgot this till just now.

my parents had a little tiny present under the Christmas tree a few years ago, and we had to open in last, and all 4 of the kids had to open it together. inside the box was a puzzle, and when it was put together, it was a picture of a cruise ship with "merry christmas" written on it. :)

Thanks! Glow in the dark ice cubes!! Awesome!

We actually took her two years ago for her 7th birthday. We did all the character meals and even ate lunch in the castle with the princesses! She got chosen out of the crowd to be the "honorary princess of the day", and she got a private meet and greet with Cinderella. Then, she got to lead everyone up the red carpet to the dining room. All the princesses came to our table first! She also got a trading pin with the princesses on it that is not for sale anywhere and is only given to "honorary princesses". We had so many occurrences of "the right place at the right time" on that trip, I don't think we can top it.

We wanted to take this trip now because we wanted to do it again before she gets old enough to have less of the "magic" reaction to everything. We didn't really get too much of a vacation last year because we were moving. We asked a lot of her last year...new city, new home, new school, new gym... She's been begging to go back to Disney, and we think she deserves it. She has no idea we're going. It's going to be a blast!!! We can hardly wait to tell her she's going!

Great idea!

I guess I could make her a bow out of some Disney printed ribbon...they have some at Walmart with Mickey on it. I could have her close her eyes and put it in her hair.( I don't think I could pull it off while she's sleeping...it would wake her up for sure!) Then when she looks at it, she will totally freak out!

In that case I highly recommend a "see how it goes" trip. Our last 3 we let each kid have a day they pick their park and place to eat, that way we get the reservation a head of time and each gets to do something special that they picked out. Besides that we show up, play it by ear and just realax and enjoy ourselves, to include a pool day in the middle if everyone is tired.

Those trips are a lot of fun and more than once did we go to a park, back to the room to eat then the kids caught a second wind and we went out for the Magical extended hours to runa round the park a few more hours.

Here's how I did Disney, and it worked perfectly: booked one meal per day (around 5pm, before it gets crowded). When we got into the park we went left (because everyone instinctively goes right). We did Main St, Adventure Land, Frontier Land and then ate lunch at 11 am. Then we left the park and went to the hotel for a nap/swim. We went to dinner (Yacht club) at 5pm, then went over to Hollywood studios. We got back to Magic Kingdom at 9:30, got an ice cream and sat on the grass at the entrance to Main St. We watched the fireworks and then everyone leaves the park....but we stayed on site, so the park was open till 1am! So as everyone was leaving, we hopped on the Train and rode it back to Fantasy Land, then did the other half of the park. We walked right on all the rides! Definitely worth missing out on the hottest and most crowded part of the day for a swim and a nap! We did this with a 7 year old, so it's possible! Plus, we got a great family photo in front of Cinderella's castle as it struck midnight.

We video taped out kids when we told them... asked them what the BEST trip they could wish for would be... both immediatly said Disney world. Then we said well we always said when you were older, and they said Oh we know, but won't it be awesome when we can finally go? We said sure but not for a couple of years.... Then we handed them each a gift wrapped box, inside was a t-shirt I made that had the castle and said "My first trip to Disney world" and the dates we were going, and they LOST their minds lol It was so fun! (And the fist time we saw the castle going over the boat, my (then) 5 yr old said "LOOK! Its the castle of Disney!!" lolol
That is the best way of telling them ever!!! cool parents. LOL

Going left instead of right...awesome idea! Thanks!
