Cp not around to reply but he got started by watching his sisters pop warner team and learning the cheers. Seemed to enjoy it a lot so we signed him up. Was around 6-7 at the time.

My mom wanted my sister and I to be more social so she took my older sister to the local cheer gym.

After the season she asked me if I wanted to join too. I did! The rest is history.

My mom had no idea what she got herself into!

I wish more dads were like you. Most would be freaked out, think their son is confused and shove a football into his hands.

    Smart mom :)

Don't get me wrong, I had some hesitation at first and we did try other sports with him but it always came back to cheer. Though tough to begin with for me ultimately I am glad he found a sport he is passionate about and makes him happy.

I went along to my friend's tryout cause she would always talk about it at school. Needless to say I fell in love with the sport and four years later I still am in love with it (longest I've stuck to any type of sport as well)

My friend always talked about it at school so I joined a prep team the first year they had them and fell in love and so did my and my parents' wallets.

I think this isn't exactly what you were asking.

I am not a male nor a parent of males. Bowing out!

I was a freshman in high school. I asked all my friends if I should do cheer and the votes were unanimous. (I was always kinda interested. I used to do round off janky, crooked back handsprings for fun) so I went back home to watch cheer videos. Came across Top Gun 2010 and Senior Elite 2010... I fell in love.

I went to a local all-star gym for private lessons and tried to learn as much tumbling as I could before my high school try-outs. I made the team as an alternate -_-

So naturally I dropped that and went back to be on that all-star gym's junior 3 team. That next year I was on a worlds level 5. Been addicted since.
